KCNA Blasts War Maneuvers for Invading DPRK

KCNA Blasts War Maneuvers for Invading DPRK

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The KCNA on Saturday issued an indictment titled "We condemn DPRK-targeted war maneuvers which may bring the second June 25 war" denouncing the joint naval exercises of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet authorities.

The indictment said:

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet group stage the largest-ever joint naval exercises against the DPRK.

The joint naval exercises are aimed to mount a surprise strike at the DPRK in the sea and air and launch to a nuclear war.

The largest-ever joint naval exercises were staged in the East Sea of Korea from July 25 to 28.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet clique hurled into these war maneuvers armed forces more than ten times those involved in the preceding joint military exercises.

The U.S. hurled latest offensive means into the maneuvers, prompted by the heinous aim to make a "simultaneous strike" on the whole of the northern half of Korea.

"George Washington", super-large nuclear-powered carrier belonging to the U.S. Seventh Fleet called a "floating military base" whose radius of operation is 1 000 km and which is capable of making more than 150 sorties a day was busy with war maneuvers in the East Sea of Korea with dozens of aircraft including various type fighters and early warning planes aboard.

The recent joint naval exercises were kicked off under the simulated conditions of northward "march" of huge armed forces, backed by the aircraft carrier, and dozens of combat warships and combat and technical equipment started different exercises with them as a base.

The U.S. hurled F-22A Raptor into the joint naval exercises for the first time though this type aircraft was not used in the Iraqi and Afghan wars.

Involved in the war maneuvers were at least 200 aircraft including F-16, A-10, KC-135 and more than 20 warships and over 8 000 troops. It was preposterous for the U.S. and the south Korean puppet clique to bluster that they were aimed at finding out submarines of someone and deterring "provocation" though they hurled such huge armed forces into the exercises.

The whole course of their joint naval exercises was aimed at mounting a preemptive strike at the DPRK.

What matters is that the said maneuvers did not end up simply "demonstrating armed forces".

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet clique announced that they would stage more than ten joint military exercises including anti-submarine drills in the sea, air and land till the end of the year in the wake of the joint naval exercises.

All this clearly proves that the joint exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet clique one after another are the largest-ever maneuvers for a war of aggression in view of their scale, period, form and contents.

The large-scale joint naval exercises of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet clique are a prelude to the second June 25 war on the Korean Peninsula.

The U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors are now behaving recklessly just as the U.S. imperialists and traitor Syngman Rhee pushed the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the worst phase in a bid to ignite a war of aggression against the DPRK 60 years ago.

What should not be overlooked is that the U.S. secretaries of State and Defense toured even the forefront areas along the Military Demarcation Line and the Panmunjom line dividing Korea into the north and the south, kicking up a war fever and letting loose of a spate of vituperation against the DPRK.

This reminds one of the Seoul visit by the chiefs of the U.S. departments of Defense and State and the inspection of the 38th Parallel by Dulles as a special envoy of the U.S. president on the eve of the Korean war in the last century.

The south Korea visit by the U.S. secretaries of State and Defense means that the U.S. scenario for a war of aggression against the DPRK has reached the phase of its implementation after its final examination from the military and diplomatic points of view.

As a matter of fact, the U.S. set the date and period of the exercises in the same way it ignited the Korean war on June 25 in the last century.

The U.S. codenamed the operation "invincible spirit" and included "Philsung firing range" and "Sungjin training ground" in the venues of the exercises.

At the same time, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet clique praised Korean War dead as "fighters who took part in the war," inciting a war fever.

The U.S. and traitor Lee Myung Bak staged the above-said joint naval exercises under the pretext of "coping with" the "Cheonan" case while describing the "June 25 war as the southward invasion by the north" and the case as "a military provocation by the north". This proves that the sunk warship was nothing but a scapegoat for staging the recent maneuvers for invading the DPRK.

The joint naval exercises are part of the undisguised provocations being perpetrated by the U.S. to hold military supremacy in Northeast Asia.

The U.S. held a firm grip on south Korea as one of the elements for carrying out its strategy for world domination through the said case and reinforced its foundation.

It agreed with the puppet authorities to extend the transfer of OPCON, a controversial issue in legalizing the permanent presence of its forces in south Korea till 2015.

This extension helped the U.S. put south Korea under its inescapable control.

The U.S., at the same time, clinched the deal with the Japanese government over the issue of the U.S. base in Futenma in order to turn Okinawa which is of weighty importance in realizing its aggressive Asia strategy into a permanent base.

As a result, the U.S. held a firm grip on south Korea and Japan important for carrying out its aggressive Asia strategy as its junior allies and laid solid political and military foundations for tightening the U.S.-Japan-south Korea "triangular military alliance."

The U.S. regarded the joint naval exercises as a golden opportunity to demonstrate the "might" of the "triangular military alliance" in Northeast Asia.

The reckless war maneuvers for aggression staged by the U.S. warmongers created the worst situation on the eve of war on the Korean Peninsula and seriously disturbed the peace and security in Northeast Asia.

This year marks the lapse of six decades since the launch of the Korean war by the U.S.

The U.S. should have seriously repented of its acts of aggression and positively opted for replacing the Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty as proposed by the DPRK in order to ensure durable peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Nevertheless, the U.S. got more frantic with the moves to ignite a war of aggression against the DPRK. This is an intolerable insult to the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK, unpardonable provocation and undisguised declaration of war against the DPRK.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet warmongers are seriously mistaken.

History records the great victory won by the heroic Korean People's Army during the Fatherland Liberation War in which it immediately went over a counterattack to beat the aggression by the U.S. imperialists, liberating Seoul, the stronghold of the enemies, just in three days and inflicting a disgraceful defeat on the provocateurs in the three year-long war.

If the U.S. and the south Korean puppet group ignite the second June 25 war, the army and the people of the DPRK will mobilize all deterrents for self-defense and wipe out the aggressors at a single strike and settle accounts with the U.S. for all the crimes committed against the Korean people.

June 25, the day the U.S. ignited the war for aggression, will always be followed by July 27, the day the Korean people emerged victorious in the war.
