HOPE? or CONTENTMENT?

HOPE? or CONTENTMENT?

Regarding Arroyo's Abdication and Aquino's ascendancy to the Presidency

by Lualhati Madlangawa Guererro

Yesterday, we all witnessed one of the remarkable events in Pilipino history, featuring famous actors and actresses, traditional politicians and the rest of the elite, opportunists in a one of a kind ceremony known as the inaguration of our "dear beloved" President, Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III.

The event seemed to be grandiose, as we all see every personality wearing Barong Tagalog and Terno as well as the same acts usually being broadcasted on government owned-television, but putting much of a popular flavor in it.

But,
Despite all of these, from the ceremony to the street party, including the "jumping jologs" obviously being seen on TV, the entire scene shows a mockery of democracy, popularism, courtesy of the elite as well as making a "contrary", contrary to the usual "Aquino" tradition simplicity as it banners "popularity", "thankfulness to the people" and of "democracy" itself, since Noynoy Aquino, President-elect is not really elected by ideas, but rather by publicity courtesy of artists, elite, institutions united by opportunism and the like.

True, for in fact, how come a third world country, in doing such great things end up in parties instead of fulfilling promises? Is this a hell-of-a-kind escapist act? That they started bringing in bread and circuses whilst the farmworkers at Hacienda Luisita continue languishing and fighting for genuine land reform? Well... to me, the money that end up in a street party seemingly supposed to be instead in paying taxes, paying debts since they are elite and having enough money to pay IMF-WB debts, and the rest in supporting their "agrarian reform" since CARP seemingly having its money reduced much!

And as the Presidential festival continues, it simply intensifies my critical stance towards the new President. As what I have said further, behind the festivities lies the ideas contrary to the aspirations of the people, as what the statement "Destroy the Reactionary illusion of "hope"" by the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, it said:

"...An illusion of hope is been weaving by the U.S. Imperialists and of the ruling class. The assumption of Benigno Aquino III as the new leader of the puppet state was described as sign of change after nine years of widespread corruption and brutality of the puppet Arroyo regime...

The illusion, still being woven, is primarily focused on the ideas of the urban petit bourgeoisie in order to strengthen trust with the new regime as well as the ruling class and to spread the illusion over to the people. Its objective is also to envelop or justify the continuation of the anti-national, anti-democratic and anti-people policies, programs of the government and the puppet reactionary state..."

The proof?
Will the farmers in Hacienda Luisita be given land and justice after the massacre?
Will the workers get high salaries and benefits in midst of the crisis?
Will the students, especially in state and public universities, schools be given a bigger state subsidy coming from taxes?
Will the state also revisit the "subversives" for the resumption of peace talks?

Critically to say, it may be YES or NO.
But the emphasis for sure will end up in the latter despite the "reforms" being conducted, ending up as lip services to fool the masses.

I hope the people must remain alert, vigilant in the first 100 days of the second Aquino administration. We will be the first to ostracise him! By the way, What is hope? Another word for contentment?

Anyway,
Consummatum est for now, another day has come in this hell-of-a-kind administration of the elite and of the privileged clothed in a sheet named populism!

The revolutionary movement in Mindanao has advanced under the US-Arroyo regime, and will further advance under Noynoy Aquino's term-NDF

The revolutionary movement in Mindanao has advanced under the US-Arroyo regime, and will further advance under Noynoy Aquino's term

Jorge "Ka Oris" Madlos

The US-Arroyo regime will go down in history as the most corrupt and one of the more unpopular regimes our country ever had, owing this distinction much on scandalously enriching itself while pushing the Filipino people down to worst poverty levels.

Like all other fascist regimes before it, its National Internal Security Plan (NISP) code named Oplan Bantay Laya, is responsible for the deaths of more than a thousand who fell victim to extra-judicial killings and whose brutal military campaigns and operations have committed the most brazen of human rights violations in recent history, and caused the dislocation of millions of people.

As a US puppet regime, it has been overly compliant in overseeing and ensuring the unhampered imperialist plunder of our natural resources, resulting in the degradation and devastation of our environment. Ever loyal to US dictates, the Arroyo regime has, in shameless disregard of national sovereignty, ushered in the continued basing in our land of US troops.

It has wielded its most virulent and violent state apparatus -- the AFP and its other armed minions -- in its desperate attempt to defeat the revolutionary movement. However, like all its predecessor reactionary regimes, it dreamed but miserably failed to suppress the revolutionary movement led by the Communist Party of the Philippines (MLM). In fact, its corrupt, fascist and puppet 9-year rule is one major factor for the further advance of the revolutionary movement nationwide as well as in Mindanao.

Under the US-Arroyo regime, the New People's Army (NPA) in Mindanao has grown from 30 to 39 guerilla fronts. In the midst of the brutal military campaigns under Oplan Bantay Laya, the NPA in Mindanao has successfully intensified its tactical offensives, organizing, arming and training more than a dozen additional platoons, supported by thousands of People's Militias.

Over the last 9 years its mass base has expanded, continuously consolidating these and initially establishing people's organs of political power. Agrarian revolution and other related campaigns have continued to gain ground, which, have benefitted hundreds of thousands of people in the countryside.

Our Party organization has also grown stronger and is continuously gaining wide and deep roots among the masses.

The extreme isolation of the US-Arroyo regime has broadened the people's unity in Mindanao and emboldened them to openly express their opposition in increasing number and frequency against the unbridled corruption of the regime, its fascist brutality, puppetry to imperialists, and all its anti-people economic and political policies.

The euphoria and the "hope" offered by the incoming Noynoy Aquino era are not enough to effect basic change to the semi-feudal and semi-colonial character of the Philippine society because the Aquino regime is basically no different from all other previous reactionary and puppet regimes. We have once witnessed how our people's hope and dreams for genuine land reform, national industrialization, better life and the end of corruption during the administration of Noynoy's mother, the late Cory Aquino, ended in utter frustration, with promises unfulfilled.

Behind the new faces of these new guards of the bourgeois state, in the main they come from the same big bourgeois and big landlord classes that has long ruled our country. Catapulted to victory through a high-tech poll process attended with irregularities, they are expected to promote and protect the interests of the ruling classes, including those of their imperialist masters. In fact the new administration is evasive on the issue of genuine land reform and national industrialization, and silent on the US imperialist incursion in both our political and economic life.

Our country's chronic socio-economic crisis in the midst of the ever worsening worldwide capitalist system is a fertile ground for the continued advance of the people's war nationwide to a higher stage within the 6-year term of Noynoy Aquino. The momentum of the revolutionary movement in Mindanao in the last 9 years is an indication of our potential to achieve greater victories towards a new stage.

The revolutionary forces in Mindanao are determined to do its share in advancing the people's war forward even as we fully support the National Democratic Front of the Philippines' effort to find a peaceful settlement of the root causes of our country's long standing civil war.

Should the new administration choose to resolve our social conflict mainly by "unsheating the swords of war" as the late Cory Aquino did, it will come down in history as just another regime that dreamed but failed to stave off the revolutionary fervor of the masses demanding for national liberation and democracy.

Achieve great unprecedented strides in revolutionary struggle under the new US-Aquino regime-NDF

Achieve great unprecedented strides in revolutionary struggle
under the new US-Aquino regime

Communist Party of the Philippines
(A member of the National Democratic Front)
June 29, 2010

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) joins the Filipino people in marking the eve of the stepping down of the US-Arroyo regime, which ruled the Philippines for nine and a half years with sheer brutality, corruption and subservience to foreign interests. At the same time, the CPP reiterates the need to persist along the path of revolutionary struggle and achieve great strides in advancing people's war through the next several years of the new US-Aquino regime.

The Filipino people are absolutely glad to see Gloria Arroyo step down from her throne. They earnestly look forward to waging struggles to ensure that Arroyo will be prosecuted and punished for her crimes of wanton plunder and large-scale corruption and crimes against humanity in the course of the brutal war she waged against urban and rural activists and the masses in revolutionary areas. They will be pressing the incoming Aquino regime to make good its campaign promise to make Arroyo pay for all her crimes against the people. They will vigilantly oppose any horse-trading between Arroyo and Aquino that will give the former a compromise arrangement similar to those granted Marcos and Estrada in the past.

The Filipino people thirst for change. They long for a decisive turn from the nine and a half years of Arroyo's rule of brutality, corruption and subservience to foreign interests. They are, however, not betting that Aquino's presidency will make a real break with the past, especially with regard to fundamental issues such as land reform and genuine national industrialization, national sovereignty, people's democracy, human rights and social justice.

Aquino has hardly given any attention to the issue of land reform, except to make a vague and hollow promise with many if's and but's about distributing Hacienda Luisita to its tillers by 2013. Whether in the reign of Cory Aquino or in the reign now of her son, the Aquino-Cojuangco clan has no intention at all of subjecting Hacienda Luisita to genuine land reform. Neither is the new puppet, reactionary president ready to accord real justice to the victims of the Hacienda Luisita massacre and the series of related killings of leaders and advocates of the peasant struggle in Tarlac, of which he himself was culpably in league with the fascist military masterminds and perpetrators.

The aspiration of the peasant masses for land reform can only be advanced by waging mass struggles against land monopoly and concomitant feudal and semifeudal exploitation. Aquino's six-year term will be confronted by a historic escalation of the peasants' clamor for genuine land reform.

Aquino has assembled his "economic team" from the same bunch and breed of pro-imperialist and pro-neoliberalization economists who have dominated economic policy-making in the past three decades, including some who have served the US-Arroyo regime. These are the eonomic policy-makers who pushed for the denationalization, privatization, deregulation and liberalization of the economy, causing the large-scale demise and closure of industries, massive loss and casualization of jobs, breakdown of protectionist barriers and self-reliance, dumping of foreign goods, destruction of agriculture and the plunder of the country's natural resources. They have reduced the national economy to ruins with diminished domestic production and made it practically dependent on foreign debts and remittances of overseas contract workers.

From all indications, Aquino is out to continue the same, old pro-imperialist, anti-progress and anti-people economic policies even as he conjures the illusion that the people's lives will improve under his regime with its superficial slogan of "no corruption, no poverty." He is intent on taking on his class role as the next chief overseer of the moribund semicolonial and semifeudal system.

The worsening economic conditions and social ills besetting the Filipino people are driving them to intensify their resistance and struggle for fundamental social change. The revolutionary movement continues to advance as the Filipino people gain a heightened awareness of the need to wage revolutionary struggle to advance both their immediate demands and strategic aspirations.

The objective socio-economic and political situation combine with the critical and growing strength of the CPP-led subjective forces of the revolution. The people's revolutionary movement can achieve great unprecedented advances in the next six years under the US-Aquino regime. The current five-year program of the Communist Party of the Philippines seeks to lead the people's war to a qualitative leap into the phase of strategic stalemate from its current phase of strategic defensive through the escalation of full-scale guerrilla warfare.

The CPP and the entire revolutionary movement vow to wage revolutionary armed resistance and lead mass struggles nationwide with utmost vigor and determination.

In the coming years, the New People's Army expects to recruit thousands of new Red fighters, build more platoons and companies, establish new battalions, open up and consolidate more guerrilla fronts and subregional military areas, launch more frequent and widespread tactical offensives and seize thousands of firearms from the AFP. The entire archipelago will be ablaze with the fires of the people's war. At the same time, mass struggles against poverty and oppression; and for land reform, higher wages, jobs, lower prices, education, health and other social needs will be waged by the broad masses of the people in both the cities and countryside.

Even as the people wage struggles in all fields of battle, their revolutionary forces under the National Democratic Front of the Philippines remain open to engaging the Government of the Republic of the Philippines in peace negotiations. The NDFP is now only awaiting the reactionary government under the Aquino regime to show real interest in resuming the peace talks with a commitment to uphold all previous agreements between the two parties since the basic framework- and agenda-setting The Hague Joint Declaration of 1992.

Aquino, however, has so far indicated very little interest in peace negotiations. He is under US imperialist pressure to simply continue with intensifying the counterrevolutionary military campaign of suppression in compliance with the US Counterinsurgency Guide. He is being made to simply revive the previous failed campaigns of Oplan Bantay Laya 1 and 2, rename and embroider it with new rhetoric. As the raging civil war intensifies, Aquino will definitely be confronted with the growing demand of various sectors for it to engage in serious peace negotiations with the NDFP in order to address the roots of the armed conflict and achieve a just and lasting peace in the country.

Whatever method Aquino chooses, he will merely end up failing to stifle the people's growing resistance. The more force he applies in a brutal campaign of suppression, the more energy will the people exert to intensify their clamor and struggle for fundamental and revolutionary changes.

With the CPP and the revolutionary forces at the core, the people's struggles are bound to achieve greater victories in the coming years under the new US-Aquino regime.

Anti-US Song Popular in Korea-KCNA

Anti-US Song Popular in Korea

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- The song "Death to the U.S. Imperialist Aggressors", created in Juche 49 (1960), is still popular in Korea.

The song encourages the servicepersons and civilians to the struggle against the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet regime.

It was played by the band in various events, including a Pyongyang army-people rally and revenge-vowing meetings of working people's organizations, held on June 25, the day of the struggle against the U.S. imperialists" .

Reflected in the song is a strong will of the Korean people to always keep themselves ready for action and decisively frustrate the reckless war provocation moves of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean regime of traitors.

It also contains the idea that the Korean army and people, led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, will surely emerge victorious in fight with the U.S. imperialists.

KPA Accuses US of Introducing Heavy Weapons in Panmunjom-KCNA

KPA Accuses US of Introducing Heavy Weapons in Panmunjom

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- The Panmunjom Mission of the Korean People's Army sent a message of protest to the U.S. imperialist aggression forces side Monday slamming the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces for introducing various types of heavy weapons to the portion of the south side in the area around the Panmunjom Conference Hall.

Fully armed U.S. imperialist aggression troops and the south Korean puppet army unhesitatingly committed this provocation in the eyes of the KPA, an indication that they are set to perpetrate a military provocation any moment, the message says, and goes on:

The U.S. forces side introduced those weapons at around 7:25 a.m. on June 26.

The introduction of heavy weapons to the area around the conference hall where armed forces of both sides stand in acute confrontation is a premeditated provocation aimed to spark off a serious military conflict.

The KPA side has followed with vigilance the moves of the U.S. forces side instigating the puppet forces to push the situation on the Korean Peninsula to such phase on the eve of the outbreak of a war and find an ignition point with June 25, the day of the start of the Korean War, as a momentum.

The KPA side notifies the U.S. forces side of its following principled stand as regards the latter's serious military provocation:

1. The U.S. forces side should immediately stop the provocative introduction of heavy weapons to the area around the Panmunjom Conference Hall. It should withdraw all those weapons already introduced from the area at once.

2. In case it does not comply with the principled demand of the KPA side, it will take strong military countermeasures in the said area.

The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces should never forget their bitter defeat six decades ago.

Foreign Ministry Vows to Bolster Nuclear Deterrent in New Way-KCNA

Foreign Ministry Vows to Bolster Nuclear Deterrent in New Way

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA Monday as regards the recently disclosed U.S. scenario for a nuclear attack on the DPRK:

Recently declassified state documents of the U.S. revealed the fact that it planned a nuclear attack on the DPRK in 1969 when EC-121 large spy plane incident occurred.

At that time the U.S. Defense Department worked out a "plan for attacking 12 places of north Korea with 0.2-10kt nuclear weapons", a "plan for attacking 16 airfields with 10-70kt nukes to destroy air force of north Korea" and a "plan for disabling the majority of the offensive capability of north Korea" in "retaliation" against the resolute self-defensive measure taken by the DPRK and submitted them to the White House.

According to those documents, the U.S. had worked out a plan to mount nuclear attacks on the DPRK and several areas of Northeast China in 1954, the year right after the end of the Korean War.

This is another testimony that the U.S. has always watched for a chance to use nuclear weapons against the DPRK, pursuant to the "policy of strength" toward it.

This indicates that the present U.S. administration is nothing different from the preceding regimes in their policy of nuclear threat to the DPRK as it excluded the DPRK from the list of non-use of nuclear weapons in the "Nuclear Posture Review" in April.

Historical facts prove that the DPRK was quite right when it made a decision to react to nukes with a nuclear deterrent.

The recent disturbing development on the Korean Peninsula underscores the need for the DPRK to bolster its nuclear deterrent in a newly developed way to cope with the U.S. persistent hostile policy toward the DPRK and military threat toward it.

Historic Kalun Meeting-KCNA

Historic Kalun Meeting

Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- June 30 is the 80th anniversary of the historic Kalun meeting.

At the meeting President Kim Il Sung proclaimed the immortal Juche idea to put an end to the history of national liberation struggle marked with flunkeyism, dogma, confusion and frustration and effect an upswing in the Korean revolution.

In his reminiscences "With the Century" Kim Il Sung wrote, "I made public in The Path of the Korean Revolution the idea and standpoint I had perceived in my days of struggle and elaborated in prison.

This has become the line of our revolution and its guiding idea".

He, who started revolutionary activities for the country and the people in his early years, ushered in a new era of independence, the era of Juche, on the basis of the profound truth that the popular masses are masters of the revolution and construction and they are also capable of propelling the revolution and construction.

The President convened a meeting of leading cadres of the Young Communist League and the Anti-Imperialist Youth League in Kalun on June 30, Juche 19 (1930) and elucidated the principle of the Juche idea and principles and position to be maintained in the revolution.

He also clarified the characteristics and duty of the Korean revolution, policies of armed struggle and united national front against the Japanese imperialists, a policy of revolutionary party founding and other issues reflecting his steadfast spirit of independence.

He defined anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution as the characteristics of Korean revolution, a new formulation which could not be found in any classics and any countries.

The meeting was recorded in history as a crucial one where the Juche-based policies and tactics of the Korean revolution were adopted.

Projected US-S. Korea Military Exercises Flayed-KCNA

Projected US-S. Korea Military Exercises Flayed

Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- The United States reportedly agreed with the south Korean puppet forces to soon stage in the waters of the West Sea of Korea their large-scale combined exercises which had been postponed so far.

The exercises are aimed to "deter infiltration of special forces", "detect submarines" and increase the capability of the U.S.-south Korea combined operations in the sea and air and so forth, and involved in them will be aircraft carrier flotilla of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, including aircraft carrier "George Washington" and nuclear-powered submarine, Aegis destroyer and amphibious assault ships and the south Korean puppet forces' warships and flying corps.

In this regard Minju Joson Tuesday carries a signed commentary, which says:

The joint military exercises are, in every way, a dangerous saber-rattling designed to make a surprise preemptive attack on the DPRK by rounding off the U.S.-south Korea joint military operations for war of aggression on it.

It is as clear as noonday that in case any incident happens during the exercises, this may be easily led to armed conflict and then to an all-out war. Herein lies the provocative and dangerous nature of the said exercises.

It is the trite trick of the U.S. imperialists to deceive the international public with fiction and plot, violate the sovereignty of other countries and nations by means of military intervention and war and disturb the global peace and security.

The worst situation that can be seen on the eve of a war is prevailing on the Korean Peninsula and peace and security of Northeast Asia, to say nothing of the peninsula, are being seriously disturbed due to the U.S. bellicose forces' reckless war moves for aggression.

If a catastrophic war breaks out in the peninsula again, it will entail serious consequences.

It is truth taught by history that genuine peace can never settle in the peninsula nor can the Korean people live in peace with the aggressors left intact.

Foreign Ministry Totally Refutes G-8 Declaration-KCNA

Foreign Ministry Totally Refutes G-8 Declaration

Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA Tuesday as regards the G-8 summit declaration criticizing the DPRK over the "Cheonan" case:

We vehemently and totally refute the declaration adopted at the G-8 summit held in Canada on June 25 and 26 in which its participants pulled up the DPRK, though indirectly, referring to south Korea's "results of investigation" into the "Cheonan" case.

The "results of investigation" are arousing ever-more hot arguments not only in the international community but inside south Korea.

They are beset with so many doubts and contradictions that a committee was set up in the "National Assembly" of south Korea to investigate the case but it has not yet concluded its work.

Moreover, the south Korean side persistently turns its face away from the invariable demand for receiving the inspection group of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

Heads of state of G-8, however, hastily handled the case in a deliberate manner only to prove that they sought a sinister political purpose.

G-8 gave its way to G-20 and is heading for a cemetery of history as it has been reduced to an evil group blindly conniving at and defending its allies, far from taking principle and truth as a standard.

AINDF Issues Appeal to All Korean People-KCNA

AINDF Issues Appeal to All Korean People

Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- The Information Department of the Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF) made public an "appeal to all the Korean people" on June 25, on the lapse of the 60 years since the U.S. imperialists ignited a war against the DPRK by instigating traitor Syngman Rhee, according to Internet site Kuguk Jonson.

The appeal branded the June 25 Korean War as a brigandish war of aggression and an unprecedented war of massacre of Koreans launched by the U.S. imperialists with the wild ambition to occupy the whole Korean Peninsula and put the world under their domination.

The U.S. imperialists, which drove the inter-Korean relations to a total collapse by leading traitor Lee Myung Bak by the nose, are getting frantic in the moves to ignite a war of aggression against the DPRK regarding the present time as a golden chance for launching the second June 25 war, the appeal said, and went on:

The U.S. imperialists and their stooges cooked up the case of "Cheonan's" sinking and are bringing dark clouds of a nuclear war against the DPRK while staging war exercises on the ground and in the air and sea under that pretext. The U.S. brought Japan into submission and tightened its grip on its military base in Okinawa in which it deployed Stealth fighters and latest war hardware while getting them ready to make sorties.

The Lee Myung Bak bellicose group obsessed with pro-U.S. sycophancy and confrontation with fellow countrymen is driving the situation to the worst phase while blustering that "it would not rule out a war" at the instigation of the U.S. It is staging provocative "events for commemorating the 60th anniversary of the June 25 war", inciting extreme hostility towards the north and a war fever.

The appeal stressed the need for all the people to turn out in the sacred nationwide drive to smash the reckless moves of the south Korean and U.S. warmongers for a war against the DPRK and wage the active struggle in different parts of south Korea for the dismantlement of the U.S. forces bases.

It underscored the need to wage the strenuous struggle to replace the Armistice Agreement by a peace treaty and ensure durable peace of the Korean Peninsula, and conduct the courageous struggle to put an end to the U.S. military occupation and colonial rule under the uplifted banner of independence against the U.S.

The people should probe into the truth behind the case of warship sinking, a hideous conspiratorial farce, and mete out stern punishment to the reckless Lee Myung Bak group of warmongers in the name of all the people, the appeal said, and went on:

Soldiers of the south Korean army should not become cheap cannon fodder of the U.S. imperialists but turn their rifles to the group of traitors.

All the people should fully support and defend the Songun politics of the DPRK and avert a war, defend peace and hasten reunification of the country holing high the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.

JIK Slams US Criminal Abuse of UN for Provocation of Korean War-KCNA

JIK Slams US Criminal Abuse of UN for Provocation of Korean War

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The Jurists Institute of Korea released a white paper Friday disclosing the U.S. criminal and illegal abuse of the UN to provoke the Korean War of aggression.

The U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors of south Korea finally referred the case of warship "Cheonan" to the UN, thus kicking off a renewed racket for tightening "the international sanctions" against the DPRK, the white paper says, citing facts to disclose the crimes the U.S. and traitor Syngman Rhee committed by justifying their launch of the Korean War of aggression by abusing the UN six decades ago.

The U.S. made careful preparations to launch the war under the name of the UN, the white paper says, and goes on:

The U.S. had already organized a "drafting group" at the State Department and let it work out a "basic document" and "resolution" to be presented to the UN with the calculation that a complaint that the "north Korean army committed armed attack" was made to the UN, in a purpose to legally hurl its forces and troops of its satellite countries into the Korean War.

After provoking the Korean War under a carefully worked out plan, the U.S. abused the UN in a bid to falsify the truth about its start of the war and justify its undisguised armed intervention.

No sooner had the war broke out in Korea on June 25, 1950 than the then U.S. representative at the UN briefed the UN secretary general in New York on a report presented by officials of the U.S. State Department to the effect that "north Korea made a war declaration" . He urged the UN chief to immediately call a UNSC meeting at the urgent request of the U.S. government.

An emergency UNSC meeting was thus held on June 25 due to the gimmick of the U.S. and its brigandish demand. UNSC "Resolution 82" was thus railroaded. This U.S.-sponsored "resolution" branded the DPRK as an "aggressor" on the basis of its lie that "north Korea made an armed attack," thus shifting the blame for the outbreak of the war on to the DPRK.

Another UNSC meeting held on June 27 passed UNSC "Resolution 83" under the U.S. pressure. This resolution allowed UN member nations (the U.S. and its allies) to launch armed intervention in Korea.

This resolution was, however, nothing but a fig leaf to cover up the U.S. aggression of Korea with the name of UN in view of the time of its adoption.

On June 25, before the adoption of "Resolution 83", the U.S. let its Japan-based 68th and 339th combat flying corps as well as the 25th corps of fighter bombers of the 5th air force make sorties over Korea 163 times. They perpetrated saturation bombing on the areas of the northern half of Korea from daytime of June 26 and the U.S. 7th fleet launched military operations in the waters off Korea on that day.

For the purpose of hurling more troops of its satellites into Korea the U.S. got the UNSC adopted its "Resolution 84" on July 7 calling for the organization of the U.S.-led "UN Forces".

This brought the number of the countries which sent their troops to the above-said Korean war of aggression to 15.

Disclosing the injustice of the UNSC "resolutions" cooked up according to the U.S. scenario, the white paper says:

First, they were adopted without examining the specific facts about the dispute.

"Resolution 82" was worked out on the basis of a report presented to the UN secretary general by the then U.S. Ambassador to south Korea Muccio and a report of the "UN Commission on Korea" put forward by the U.S. and others. These were cooked up on the basis of the U.S. inventions or of what they obtained from traitor Syngman Rhee.

The same can be said of "Resolution 83". The UNSC adopted it with neither examination nor confirmation of four reports which the "UN Commission on Korea" worked out in the morning on June 26 at the U.S. instruction.

Second, those resolutions were adopted quite contrary to the requirement of the UN Charter which calls for letting the parties involved in the dispute participate in the discussion.

The U.S. deliberately turned down just requests to invite the representative of the DPRK, a party to the dispute, to the negotiations even though such requests were made whenever there were discussions on the DPRK. It manipulated negotiators to allow only the south Korean puppet representatives to participate in the debate.

Third, those resolutions were adopted in wanton violation of Paragraph 3 of Article 27 of the UN Charter stipulating the voting procedures of the UNSC which say that any resolution can be passed with the approval of seven member nations (at that time) including the yes votes of all the five permanent members.

The UNSC was not functioning properly at that time as the UN had pro-U.S. tendency and the former Soviet Union, one of the five permanent member nations, was not present there.

Fourth, those resolutions were cooked up in defiance of the requirements of the UN Charter concerning the UN Forces.

The U.S. breached norms of the UN Charter concerning the organization of the UN Forces.

The U.S. and its 15 satellite countries dispatched their troops to the Korean front before concluding any special agreement in line with Article 43 of the charter.

The U.S. also wrested all rights to command the "UN Forces" in violation of the system of supervision of the UN Forces and the principles of its activities.

Clark, UN forces commander toward the end of the Korean War, confessed in March 1967 that he was "UN Forces commander" in Korea but he did not remember what instruction he got from the UN during the war.

This proves that the "UN Forces" and the "UN Forces Command" organized by the U.S. by abusing the UN had nothing to do with the UN. That was why at the 28th UN General Assembly representatives of many countries charged that the U.S. fabricated "Resolution 84" by abusing the UN and the sham forces which were not responsible for their actions before the UNSC were preposterously called the "UN Forces".

The injustice of the UNSC "resolutions" related to the Korean War, which were concocted according to the U.S. scenario, were brought to light with the UNSC "resolution 90" adopted later.

On Jan. 31, 1951 after the former Soviet Union participated in the activities of the UNSC, it adopted "Resolution 90" retracting from its agenda the Korean War-related "complaint about the aggression against the Republic of Korea" which was presented by the U.S. on June 25, 1950. The Korean issue had not been tabled since then.

The adoption of "Resolution 90" meant, in the final analysis, the UNSC's admittance of the injustice of all "resolutions" related to the Korean War.

All facts prove that the U.S. abuse of the UN for the war of aggression against the DPRK was a very serious breach of international law as it had no legal validity.

Pyongyang Army-People Rally against US Held-KCNA

Pyongyang Army-People Rally against US Held

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- A Pyongyang army-people rally against the United States took place at Kim Il Sung Square on Friday on the occasion of "June 25, the day of struggle against the U.S. imperialists" .

Attending the rally were senior party, army and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of party, armed forces, power bodies, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, and working people, youth and students in the city, more than 120,000 people. The chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas compatriots were on hand.

Present on invitation were diplomatic envoys of different countries and staff members of foreign embassies here and foreign guests.

Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, said in his address at the rally that after launching an armed invasion against the northern half of Korea on June 25, 1950 to destroy the DPRK in its cradle and realize their scenario for world domination the U.S. imperialists carried out the most barbaric war of aggression in the world history of wars by mobilizing more than two million troops of their aggressor forces and armies of fifteen satellite countries and the south Korean puppet army and huge quantities of war materiel. Due to the bestial atrocities of the U.S. imperialist aggressors millions of innocent Korean people were mercilessly killed, and the whole territory of the northern half of Korea alive with the drive for carving out a new life was reduced to debris in the period of the war, he noted.

Under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung the army and people of the DPRK beat back the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world and their imperialist allied forces by displaying matchless bravery and popular heroism and the might of single-minded unity and thus honorably protected the sovereignty of the nation and the gains of the revolution and brought about the beginning of decline for the U.S. imperialists, he noted, and went on:

The U.S., far from drawing a due lesson from the ignominious defeat it sustained in the last Korean War, has kept south Korea under its occupation and desperately pursued the hostile policy towards the DPRK, bringing unbearable misfortune and sufferings to the Korean nation.

The Lee Myung Bak group of traitors, too, is working with bloodshot eyes to put international "sanctions" against the DPRK into practice over the case of the sunk warship under the manipulation of the U.S. It attempted to resume the psychological warfare against the DPRK and is busy staging large-scale DPRK-targeted war exercises, blatantly challenging the aspiration and desire of the nation for the country's peace and reunification.

The U.S. should bear in mind that the war launched by it on June 25 ended with the victory of the Korean people on July 27 after three years.

If the U.S. and the puppet group of traitors finally ignite a war of aggression defying the repeated warnings of the DPRK, the army and people of the DPRK will never miss a chance but certainly give vent to their pent-up grudge and resentment to mercilessly wipe out the aggressors and the provocateurs.

Then followed speeches by representatives of the Korean People's Army, workers, agricultural workers and youth and students.

They stressed that the DPRK would react to the "retaliation" and "punishment" of the enemies and even their slightest provocation with Korean-style merciless punishment.

At the end of the rally there was an anti-U.S. demonstration.

The demonstrators marched along main streets, holding slogan-boards and posters. They chanted slogans reflecting hatred and resentment at the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean group of traitors.

I support and fraternize North Korea

"I support and fraternize North Korea"

a message for the 60th anniversary of the Fatherland Liberation War

By Lualhati Madlangawa-Guerrero

It all started with a battle made by the imperialists in the middle of sabbath day, only to end up one of the major battles describing as a battle between good and evil, as the "United Nations", to be led by the imperialist United States of America created a series of conflicts against the socialist bloc, calling by the western media as the "Communists" from 1950 up to 1953, leaving a deep scar amongst the people in a land named Choson, or rather say Korea.

This hell-of-a-kind battle, in the eyes of the west, is much of propaganda than of a reality, condemning the Marxist-Leninists, emphasising much of modern-day Socialism more of atrocities and gulag-like lifestyle, all of these simply making a stereotypical scene of a society that they ought to oppose. Worse as they, members of the United Nations also did atrocities and yet still concealed from the senses of the public, as according to the UK-KFA statement:
"...The US used germ weapons as well napalm they threatened to use nuclear weapons. They committed horrendous massacres at Sinchon Ri and Susan Ri in the north and at Rogun Ri at the south..."
And yet the mainstream media, funded by capitalism and of imperialism focused much on the atrocities made by the enemy of the "free world"!

Well...
As time goes by, we all remember the entire conflict much of an anti-communist (for the right) and an anti-imperialist (for the left) kind of armed action, much emphasising on the former as the media of the "free world" saw in and be imposed in the minds of the people! Remember the movie Inchon? It was even funded by a paranoid "Christian" sect also famous for its extreme anti-left tone and telling that the battle for Korea was a battle for "Democracy," that in fact, a battle to preserve the old system using western ideas, as according to the same statement, from the UK-KFA:
"The US imperialists fought an unjust war to subjugate a small and peaceful country,'the land of the morning calm'. The Yanks aimed to seize control of the whole country so that they could have troops on the Russian and Chinese borders, also to put an end to the successful Korean revolution and building of socialism led by the great leader president Kim Il Sung and get their greedy paws on the resources of the DPRK. The barbaric war waged by the US and its satellites prevented Korea, a homogeneous nation, from being reunified."
True, for the main goal of the west was and is simple: to revive the anti-left conflict made centuries ago, of disrupting people's will for the goddamn sake of peace and order, of trade and profit!

For sure now, in its 60th year, the US imperialists and their followers ,far from learning lessons have increased the tension in Korea, simply by faking up the Cheonan case which is a blatant fabrication, as well as encouraging the South Korean Lee Myung-Bak clique to revive the hostilities all in the name of "reunification", that is in fact, enslavement and submission to the rotten capitalist system under the dictation of the United States, as according to a writeup made last June 27, 2010 entitled South Korean fascist puppets to become more dependent on Yank Imperialists:
"..The south Korean puppet regime and US imperialists have used the Cheonan incident as a smokescreen to increase US control over south Korea. The transfer of wartime command over south Korean forces has been postponed-in other words in a war situation SK forces would be under the control of the US just like they were in the 1950-193 Fatherland Liberation War-so it is a colony not an independent country."

I hope all the peoples of the world oppose this kind of conflict the imperialists and its allies surely "come and join." and at the same time calling for the peaceful unity of the two Koreas to end this kind of conflict being stopped through a ceasefire.

SOLIDARITY TO THE NORTH
TOWARDS A PEACEFUL, SOCIAL AND FRATERNAL UNITY FOR CHOSON
AND THE WORKING PEOPLE!

Statement regarding the 60th anniversary of the fatherland liberation war

London 26 June

June 25th is the anniversary of the start of the Korean War.Wilfred Burchett Australian journalist and writer(then a Daily Express correspondent) described it as "this monstrous war".Indeed it was the US the imperialist superpower mobilised not only its own armed forces but the armed forces of the south Korean puppets and 15 satellite countries to attack a small country thousands of miles away.

The US used germ weapons as well napalm they threatened to use nuclear weapons. They committed horrendous massacres at Sinchon Ri and Susan Ri in the north and at Rogun Ri at the south. The Korean peoples great leader Marshal Kim Il Sung said that the US barbarity was worse than the Hitler Nazis.

The US imperialists fought an unjust war to subjugate a small and peaceful country,'the land of the morning calm'.The Yanks aimed to seize control of the whole country so that they could have troops on the Russian and Chinese borders, also to put an end to the successful Korean revolution and building of socialism led by the great leader president Kim Il Sung and get their greedy paws on the resources of the
DPRK.The barbaric war waged by the US and its satellites prevented Korea,a homogeneous nation, from being reunified.

Progressives in the UK demanded "Hands Off Korea" and 'bring our troops back home'.Lawyer Jack Gaster visited the DPRK as part of an international fact finding delegation exposing the US atrocities.Renown scientist Joseph Needham exposed US imperialism' s criminal germ warfare in Korea. UK KFA carries on this proud tradition.

Now the US imperialists and their followers far from learning lessons have increased the tension in Korea by faking up the Cheonan case which is a blatant fabrication.

We say stop lies about the DPRK!
We say pull the US troops out of Korea now and dissolve the ghost like "UNC" in south Korea!
Stop RIMPAC 2010!

information on the provocation of the Korean War

Dear friends,

We send our warm greetings of Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People.

As you know well, six decades have passed since the fiercest war after World War II was fought in Korea from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953.

Then, how did the Korean War break out?

The American statesmen attached great importance to the Far East and especially to Korea.

The report No. 4849, a highly classified document issued by Information and Investigation Bureau of the US State Department on January 28, 1949, said in the following vein: In view of the strategic position held by Korea in Northeast Asia, establishment of control over Korea and her people is of great value in any other country interested in the Far East. And it is quite beyond any doubt that Korea has a great weight with the US from the political viewpoint.

The Korean peninsula was a strategic point of military importance for the US from which it could deal blows to any part of the Far East, a “bridge leading to the continent” for attaining its world supremacy and a “dagger” for cutting off a “chunk of meat” of Asia. In other words, the US considered the establishment of control over the whole Korea to be the key to realizing its domination over the whole world.

For this reason, the US bent all its efforts to provoking a war in a bid to put the whole of Korea under its control.

MacArthur, the then Commander of Far East Forces, said:

“By occupying all of Korea we could… control the whole area between Vladivostok and Singapore … Nothing would then be beyond the reach of ur power.”

The US revealed its ulterior intention from the outset of its occupation of south Korea.

It was hell-bent on military buildup, stepping up the construction of military roads, airfields and naval ports in many different places of south Korea.

A Japanese publication in those days said that the US arranged 400,000-strong armed forces, including the ground force and the police 150,000 strong, reserve troops 200,000 strong, air and naval forces 3000 and over 10,000 strong each in south Korea. It also disclosed that in 1949 alone the US handed over to south Korea the military equipment worth US$ 190 million to leave nothing desired in the preparations for the Korean war.

The operations plan for carrying out an all-out offensive against the DPRK was perfected and, in accordance with it, a great number of attack positions were build and all forces deployed in attacking formations in the areas along the 38th parallel which divided Korea into the north and the south. The director of the Information Department at the MacArthur’s Headquarters wrote in his book that when the war was impending most of the Syngman Rhee’s troops had already virtually been deployed along the 38th parallel. MacArthur in his statement after his release from office confessed that the US had concentrated all its war supplies and weaponry in the areas along the 38th parallel on the eve of the war to attack the DPRK.

At that time the south Koran side committed armed provocations as a preliminary and trial war almost everyday. Entering the year 1950, the armed intrusion reached to an extreme and its number totaled 1147 between January 1 and June 24.

Meanwhile, US aircraft carrier and large bombers made full preparations to be readily committed to the Korean peninsula. And the American civilians in south Korea were evacuated to Japan on the sly.

With scrupulous arrangements made, Dulles, special envoy of the US president, looked round the areas along the 38th parallel to make a final inspection of the situation. After that an order was issued to start the war and the Korean war broke out at 4 o’clock in the morning on June 25, 1950.

The United States was prudent in its calculation to fix the date of war on June 25.

It was a hackneyed trick preferred by aggressors to adopt a tactic of “surprise attack on Sunday morning.” The Russo-Japanese war, the Sino-Japanese war and the Pacific war had all broken out on Sunday mornings through blitzkriegs.

The US added a new meaning to this stereotyped method.

Roberts, the then chief of the American Military Advisory Group in Korea, had explained why June 25 had been chosen as the date of war as follows: “We have chosen the 25th and this explains our prudence. It is the Sabbath for both the United States and south Korea, Christian states. No one will believe we have started a war on Sunday. In short, it is to make people believe that we are not the first to open a war.”

The above-said facts offer no room for argument that the US unleashed the war against the DPRK 60 years ago. The US can by no means throw off its responsibility as the provoker of the Korean war.

Recently the U.S. and the South Korean authorities cooked up the “Choenan” incident and trying to break out another aggressive war in Korean Peninsula, shifting the responsibility to DPRK.

The second war in Korean Peninsula means an all-out nuclear war which would be a great threat to the world peace and stability.

On the occasion of “June 25th-July 27th, the month of struggle against the U.S. imperialists”, we firmly believe that you and your organizations will strongly denounce the reckless new war maneuvers of the U.S. and the South Korean authorities and will fully support the just cause of the Korean peoples for independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

With best regards,

Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Play to Transparent Anti-imperialist Awareness

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- The Korean people's transparent class awareness that has grown stronger in the crucible of the protracted struggle is now given fuller play in the on-going march for a great surge.

Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article.

It goes on:

The above-said class awareness was fully displayed in exerting utmost efforts for bolstering up the defense capability true to the Songun leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea. It also found a striking manifestation in that the Korean people have firmly preserved the true nature of socialism, determined to share the destiny with socialism to the last and that they are making an uninterrupted leap forward and bringing about continued innovations in building a thriving nation through a high-pitched drive for effecting a great surge in the spirit of self-reliance.

The whole country is now giving priority to the work to render unreserved assistance to the People's Army and all the fields and units are waging a dynamic drive for bolstering up the nation's defence capability in every way. This reality clearly proves the determination and will of the Korean people to bring about a great event of national reunification with the might of Songun at any cost.

They live full of revolutionary spirit and optimism, abiding by the principle of socialism even when carrying out economic construction and vehemently rejecting the corrupt bourgeois way of life and the ideological and cultural poisoning of the imperialists.

They are intensifying their drive for a great surge in the spirit of self-reliance with the revolutionary zeal to build a reunified and prosperous thriving nation at all costs on this land by their own efforts and their own way with pride.

They are fully demonstrating the spirit of heroic Korea, Chollima Korea, consolidating as firm as a rock the foundation of the Juche-based industry and building world-startling gigantic structures with faith in sure victory and courage that he who laughs last laughs longest no matter how reckless the enemies may become in their moves.

WPK Praised by British Groups

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea released a joint statement on June 18 and Baguma Isoke, director general of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, a statement on June 15 to mark the 46th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The joint statement said that Kim Jong Il has strengthened the WPK into a united powerful party imbued with President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary idea, the Juche idea, stressing that the DPRK could confidently advance toward the road of socialism thanks to his wise leadership at a time when red flags were hoisted down in some countries.

It called upon all the revolutionaries of the world to deeply study and learn from the experience gained by the WPK in party building.

Baguma Isoke stressed in his statement that as it is led by Kim Jong Il the WPK has developed into the revolutionary party of Juche strong in the principle of independence which is unfazed at all sorts of storms and trials of history and a powerful party steadily advancing toward the accomplishment of the socialist cause without the slightest mistake in the line.

What they don’t want you to know

The U.S. government launched the Korean War 60 years ago on June 25, 1950. During three years of massive air attacks and a huge land invasion, more than three million Korean civilians were killed, including hundreds of thousands burned to death by napalm.

U.S. Air Force planes dropped 420,000 bombs on the 400,000 inhabitants of Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea — the socialist northern half of the Korean peninsula. According to historian Bruce Cumings, the Pentagon came close several times to dropping nuclear bombs on the DPRK. U.S.-led forces leveled Pyongyang in Korean war.

U.S.-led forces leveled Pyongyang
in Korean war.

Tens of thousands of Koreans had earlier been incinerated in the U.S. A-bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A least a quarter of the victims there were Koreans used as slave labor by the Japanese imperialists.

It is now nearly 60 years since the U.S. finally had to abandon its immediate goal of conquering all of Korea and signed an armistice in 1953, yet it still occupies South Korea with 29,000 troops. The U.S. Army’s Yongsan Garrison occupies 620 acres in the middle of Seoul. It’s as if a foreign army occupied Central Park in New York City.

The DPRK continues to be a Pentagon target. No country is slandered more by the U.S. corporate media.

Who started the war?

The biggest lie is that the DPRK started the war by invading South Korea in 1950. This is no truer than saying that Abraham Lincoln “invaded” the U.S. South.

The Soviet Red Army drove Japan out of northeastern China and Korea in 1945 with the help of Chinese and Korean guerrillas. Under agreements between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, Korea was to be temporarily divided.

U.S. Army Col. Dean Rusk drew the demarcation line on the 38th parallel. As secretary of state in the 1960s, Rusk was to help lead the dirty war against Vietnam.

Japan had annexed Korea in 1910 with the approval of the U.S. government. Theodore Roosevelt “gave” Korea to Japan in the treaty that ended the war between Czarist Russia and Japan in 1905.

The Korean people resisted Japanese rule, which was as vicious as the U.S. occupation of the Philippines or the European colonies in Africa. Two million Koreans joined the March 1, 1919, movement for independence. More than 7,000 were killed.

The Korean people launched an armed struggle for freedom. South Korean textbooks concede the most famous guerrilla commander was communist leader Kim Il Sung.

The liberation forces in northern Korea encouraged people to organize themselves. More than 600,000 workers joined unions. Two and a half million acres of land were given to 750,000 peasants.

It was a different story in the South under U.S. rule. Gen. John R. Hodge kept former colonialist Japanese officials and their Korean collaborators. He even tried to retain Japan’s colonial governor.

It was as if the Nazis were allowed to continue running their concentration camps after World War II.

Strikes were banned in the South on Dec. 8, 1945, by the U.S Army. That same month the grassroots People’s Republic of Korea and its people’s committees were outlawed. Martial law was declared in 1946.

President Harry Truman installed Syngman Rhee as dictator. South Korea’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission recently estimated that Rhee killed from 100,000 to 200,000 political prisoners.

Rhee bragged about invading the North. “South Korea’s neurotic right-wing government leaders clamor stridently for United States help to ‘unify’ Korea — that is, for the South to conquer the North,” wrote Andrew Roth in the Nation magazine (Aug. 23, 1949).

Truman emissary John Foster Dulles went to South Korea five days before the war erupted. Dulles had been managing partner of Sullivan & Cromwell, the Rockefellers’ law firm and would become President Dwight Eisenhower’s secretary of state.

Dulles egged on Rhee, who had constantly launched attacks on the North. A half-billion dollars had been lavished on the South Korean puppet army and it was expected to roll over the North.

Instead the DPRK, under Kim Il Sung’s leadership, counterattacked. Seoul was liberated within a week as the puppet army crumbled. The Korean People’s Army was welcomed everywhere as it advanced.

Anti-communist crusade

Congress approved $12 billion for war — worth $108 billion today — for what Truman called a “police action.” The only dissenting vote was East Harlem American Labor Party representative Vito Marcantonio.

With People’s China kept out of the United Nations until 1971, Truman was able to use the U.N. as a cover for his invasion.

The Korean War was Wall Street’s response to the Chinese Revolution and colonial revolts sweeping the globe. It heightened the anti-communist witch hunt that led to Ethel and Julius Rosenberg’s lynching in the electric chair on June 19, 1953.

The Korean War was a racist war. Black leaders like Paul Robeson and NAACP founder W.E.B. Du Bois opposed it.

Du Bois got 200,000 votes running as an anti-war candidate in New York’s 1950 U.S. Senate election. A highlight was a concert for Du Bois in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, a Black community, featuring jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker.

No peace treaty

Truman appointed Gen. Douglas McArthur as commander in Korea. McArthur in 1932 had ordered veterans bayoneted when they went to Washington, D.C., seeking promised benefits. With the Pentagon pouring in hundreds of thousands of troops, McArthur advanced to the Chinese border.

Chinese volunteers, aiding their Korean sisters and brothers, counterattacked and helped drive McArthur out of northern Korea. Among the Chinese soldiers who gave their lives for Korea was Mao Anying, a son of Mao Zedong.

McArthur was fired by Truman for insubordination — he had advocated dropping atomic bombs along the Chinese border — but only after the president got the consent of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Pentagon brass regarded the armistice signed on July 27, 1953, as a defeat. The U.S. still refuses to sign a peace treaty with the DPRK.

After Che Guevara toured the world in 1960, he said that the most remarkable person he had met was Kim Il Sung. Since the death of Korea’s “Great Leader,” Kim Jong Il has carried forward his policies.

Like Cuba and Algeria, the DPRK offered refuge to members of the Black Panther Party.

People’s Korea wants peace but has been forced to develop nuclear weapons in order to defend itself. The DPRK will never surrender.

Hands off Korea!

Joint statement on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the provocation of the Fatherland Liberation War

London 24th of June Juche 99 2010

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the provocation of the Fatherland Liberation War by the US imperialists and the start of the month of solidarity with the Korean people against US imperialism, the ASSPUK and JISGE issued the following statement

The US imperialists, the ringleader of the world imperialists and international reactionaries, provoked a war in Korea on the 25th of June 1950 by instigated their south Korean puppets to attack the young Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. The US imperialists fought an unjust aggressive war against the Korean people.

The Korean people led by the great leader Marshal Kim Il Sung,a true military strategic genius fought a fierce anti imperialist anti US stuggle against US imperialism and the allied forces of international reaction. The Korean people fought a national liberation war against the Yankee imperialist invaders,a war of justice for independence and freedom and also a war to reunify the sacred motherland.

The Fatherland Liberation War of the Korean people was a crucible of the Songun idea.
We condemn the appalling barbarity of the US imperialists during the Fatherland Liberation. We denounce their crimes of massacring civilians(including Sinchon ri,which I visited myself), use of biological and chemical weapons.History will curse forever the US imperialists as sub-human murderers and enemy of humanity and progress.

The US imperialist continue to occupy south Korea and commit crimes such as the murder of the schoolgirls Sim Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son and other atrocities. They are propping up the reactionary fascist puppet Lee Myung-Bak clique

The US imperialists are running wild along with the south Korean puppet clique of Lee Myung-Bak to ignite a new war in Korea. They have fabricated the so called case of the 'Cheonan'.

On the occasion of the Month of Solidarity with the Korean people we extend our fervent support to the Korean people in the struggle to secure the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the US imperialist aggression forces from the south of Korea. The fake "UNC" command in south Korea must be dissolved.

Militants to Aquino: Sue Arroyo, free political prisoners*

MANILA, Philippines -- A militant women's group on Wednesday held a rally outside President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's home in Quezon City, demanding the release of all women and political prisoners and the immediate prosecution of his predecessor, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

On board a vehicle, some 20 members of the group Gabriela managed to sneak in front of Aquino's residence at Times Street at around 10:30 am to hold a short program.

In a statement, the group reminded Aquino of his promise to go after Arroyo and her minions.

"We take him to task on that promise and like the rest of the country, we expect no less from him," said Joms Salvador, deputy secretary-general of Gabriela.

"If Aquino would be truthful to his promise of leading the people to 'daang matuwid,' [straight path] he should jail the culprit and free the innocents. He should work for Arroyo's imprisonment and free women and all political prisoners," Salvador added.

Salvador said there are 61 women out of 344 political prisoners under the Arroyo administration

"These women political prisoners suffered from the hands of their captors and many of them were sexually abused."

"They are also in a most detrimental condition where they are continually made vulnerable to all forms of harassment, be these sexual, physical or emotional," Salvador further stated.

Another group of protesters, leaders and members of the Philippine Airlines Employee's Association, also staged a rally to seek Aquino's intervention on the brewing labor dispute at the Philippine Airlines.

In a decision dated June 15, acting Labor Secretary Romeo Lagman found the planned mass lay off of some 30, 000 PAL employees' "contracting out" to be lawful and based on a “valid exercise of management prerogative.”

The PAL union wants the incoming Labor Secretary to be given the right to study and decide on the issue "according to procedure and on a just basis."

In a letter to Aquino, the union also asked for the cleansing of corrupt officials in the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and reform of the policy regarding contractualization.

CPP reiterates demand for AFP to surface CPP-NPA-NDFP leader Prudencio Calubid et al, 4 years after their abduction

PRESS RELEASE
Information Bureau, CPP
June 26, 2010

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today reiterated the demand for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to surface Prudencio Calubid, his wife and other companions who were abducted by armed military agents exactly four years ago. A member of the CPP Central Committee, leading officer of the New People's Army (NPA) and consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) in the peace negotiations , Calubid and his companions were abducted on June 26, 2006 along Quirino highway, near Sipocot, Camarines Sur.

Calubid was with his wife Celina Palma, niece Gloria Soco, staff Ariel Belo and Antonio Lacno aboard a vehicle on their way to Bicol. At around 8 p.m., their vehicle was waylaid by a convoy of five vehicles. They were taken at gunpoint and brought to an unidentified military safehouse. For two days, Calubid and his companions underwent severe torture in the hands of their fascist military captors.

On the third day, they were brought to a secluded mountainous area ostensibly to be finished off by the fascists. In a last minute attempt to free themselves, Calubid and Lacno tried to fight off their captors. Lacno was able to escape and wandered for days along the Southern Tagalog-Bicol border forest before being able to get in touch with relatives and comrades in Manila. The fate of Calubid and other companions remain unknown to this day.

It was through Lacno's testimonies and signed affidavit that the revolutionary movement and the public learned about the brutalities that he and his abducted companions suffered and the likely extrajudicial killing of those who were not able to escape.

"The abduction, torture and forced disappearance of Calubid, Palma, Soco and Belo are among the most heinous crimes committed by the fascist agents of the US-Arroyo regime in more than nine years of its rotten and brutal rule. It was a direct affront on human rights, and an outright violation of the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG) and the Comprehensive Agreement on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) that were jointly signed in peace negotiations between the NDFP and the government of the Republic of the Philippines," said the CPP.

"Calubid's abduction was a direct assault against the peace negotiations," said the CPP, pointing out that under the JASIG, both the NDFP and the GRP vowed to ensure the security and immunity of personnel of both sides engaged peace negotiations. The CPP said peace negotiations with the US-Arroyo regime became more untenable after the abduction and enforced disappearance of NDFP consultants Leo Velasco and Rogelio Calubad, staff Philip Limjoco in 2006 and other NDFP consultants and staff members.

"The fourth anniversary of the abduction of Comrade Calubid and company is being observed by the CPP, the NDFP and the entire revolutionary movement a few days before the inauguration of the new president. The Philippine revolutionary forces now place on the incoming Aquino regime the responsibility of accounting for, and redressing, the fascist crimes against Calubid and his other missing companions and all other victims of forced disappearances and other gross violations of human rights in the past, and making those responsible pay for their crimes," added the CPP.

The CPP released today a special issue of Ang Bayan giving revolutionary tribute to Prudencio Calubid (known by his nom de guerres Ka Elliot, Ka Baki, Ka Papong, Ka Alex, Ka Rito and Ka Dindo) and his other abducted companions.

CPP: The AFP is a key political tool of reactionaries, contrary to Gen. Bangit's crap

Information Bureau
Communist Party of the Philippines
June 23, 2010

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) dismissed the farewell speech yesterday of outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Delfin Bangit as "full of crap." Contrary to General Bangit's claims of AFP neutrality, the CPP said that the puppet reactionary military organization has always served as the most powerful political tool of the ruling reactionary political clique and the entire set of reactionary ruling classes.

General Bangit, whose retirement took effect yesterday had earlier intended to remain until his mandatory retirement in July 2011 but was compelled to do so after incoming President Benigno Aquino III made it clear that "The Emperor," as the outgoing president's favorite general is called by his bootlickers, will be definitely be replaced as AFP chief of staff.

"Top officials of the military and police have always been political appointees. Each star they have on their shoulders is gained through bootlicking and sycophancy, as well as their reliability in suppressing the people's resistance," added the CPP. "General Bangit himself was a most favored political appointee. He has exhibited utmost servility to Gloria Arroyo ever since and was inappropriately rewarded the prime post of AFP chief of staff over other more senior and deserving generals. His appointment was intended to maintain Arroyo's influence on the military even after her term expires on June 30."

"General Bangit was, however, compelled to submit his early retirement after US-mediated negotiations between the Arroyo and Aquino families reached an agreement to allow the smooth transition of power with concomitant compromises on both sides. The removal of General Bangit from the AFP's top echelon with the regime change was among the compromises of the Arroyo camp in exchange for possible accomodations and more lenient treatment under the incoming Aquino regime."

"With the removal of General Bangit, the incoming ruling clique will now have a free hand to install officers loyal to the Aquino family and clique for full influence and control over the military establishment. Aquino US imperialist handlers have given him the go-signal to carry out the consolidation of the AFP under his rule in exchange for ensuring that it will be geared principally for counterrevolutionary war in accordance with the US Counterinsurgency Guide."

"The puppet military and police are the principal instruments of the ruling classes in maintaining the prevailing oppressive and exploitative state and system. Their weapons have always been trained at people who have stood up and resisted the rule of foreign monopoly capitalists and their local big bourgeois, landlord and bureaucrat capitalist partners," added the CPP.

"General Bangit's claims that the AFP exhibited non-partisanship during the last reactionary elections is a big heap of rubbish. In the last elections as in earlier elections, units of the AFP were tools of warlord and reactionary politicos. But most especially, they served as instruments for coercive electioneering against progressives and pro-people candidates and parties," added the CPP.

"Military personnel made the rounds of barrios and homes harassing supporters of progressive candidates such as those of the Makabayan Party and progressive party-list groups such as Bayan Muna, Gabriela and Anakpawis which the AFP labelled as communist fronts, urging the people to reject such candidates and parties and posting psywar paraphernalia maligning them. Officers, members and supporters of these groups have long been subjected to extrajudicial killings and other violent attacks by the military and its agents."

NPA punishes abusive 1105th PMG-PNP in Cateel, Davao Oriental:
three killed, five wounded

Fascist deception really knows no bounds. This matter of fact is once again proven in the latest spin about NPA casualties the 10th Infantry Division-AFP (10th ID-AFP) and the Philippine National Police Regional Office XI (PRO XI) have fed the media in a concerted attempt to conceal their mounting losses and failure to contain the revolutionary armed struggle.

The 10th ID-AFP and the PRO-XI, as if on cue, mouthed similar yarns about NPA casualties following the successful punitive action last Friday by the Antonio Nerio Antao Command-Front 15 Operations Command-New People's Army against the abusive 1105th Police Mobile Group-PNP in Sitio Dao, Brgy. Poblacion, Cateel, Davao Oriental.

To set the record straight and provide an accurate accounting, there was no casualty on the NPA side during the June 18 tactical offensive.

Ten minutes into the fight, the first enemy reinforcement from poblacion Cateel arrived in an attempt to extricate the beleaguered PNP patrol base. After 30 minutes of fierce exchange, the NPA striking force shifted to plan B as real-time reports from the ANAC-NPA's advanced reconnaissance started pouring in warning about the large contingent of enemy troops from the Baganga 1105th PMG-PNP headquarters approaching the encounter site. The NPA command decided to disengage, and made prompt preparations to confront the enemy's main column. The blocking force of the ANAC-NPA set up an ambush and hit the second reinforcement coming from Baganga. The series of encounters resulted to three members of the 1105th PMG-PNP killed and five wounded.

The masses in Cateel are celebrating the latest tactical offensive by the Red Army that served as punitive action against the abusive members of the reactionary police stationed in Dao.

Numerous complaints brought by the masses to the NPA's attention on the 1105th PMG's abuses prompted the ANAC-NPA to mount the punitive action against the abusive PNP unit. Elements of the 1105th PMG-PNP posted in Dao have made a lucrative livelihood out of their extortion operation targeting hapless motorists. These 1105th uniformed highwaymen impose a standard P1,500 SOP fee on commercial and logging trucks who invariably pass by the strategically positioned base while illegal drugs and petty theft proliferate. It has become a long-running joke by the people that these bloated goons in uniform are so adept at lifting bottles of beer yet never lift their fingers against the criminality victimizing so many people.

When Cateel town was decked all over with banners congratulating the Red Army on its 40th anniversary, 1105th PMG-PNP hooligans accosted motorists and ordered them to do push-ups as punishment for the festive atmosphere. Residents in Brgy Poblacion have lobbied many times for the dismantling of this outpost.

The 1105th PMG-PNP has also been indicted to have conspired with the 67th IB-AFP and the 10th ID's Military Intelligence Battalion in the political killing of peasant activist Ludenio 'Dos' Monson in Boston town last year. Monson, an indigenous Mandaya was a staunch critic of the abuses of the 1105th PMG-PNP and one of the complainants of a number of cases filed against the unit at the reactionary Commission on Human Rights.

Following the Friday NPA punitive action, the 1105th PMG-PNP went on a rampage and vented their ire on civilians. Four civilians were man-handled, including one youth who is still in pain after the severe beating. They have been conducting arbitrary searches on houses and interrogating civilians they suspect as supporters of the NPA.

The NPA once again makes it clear that abusive elements of the reactionary armed and police forces will be punished for their crimes against the people.

The on-going US-Arroyo regime's last-minute massive military offensives are futile-NDF

The on-going US-Arroyo regime's last-minute
massive military offensives are futile

Jorge "Ka Oris" Madlos
National Democratic Front of the Philippines-Mindanao
June 16, 2010

The US-Arroyo Regime is launching a massive offensive military operation in Mindanao and the whole country in its futile final attempt to make "big scores" to add to its military "achievements" and make it appear that the objective of its rehashed Oplan Bantay Laya II from the failed Oplan Bantay Laya I is successful against the advancing revolutionary movement.

It wishes also to reduce the frequency of the intensified tactical offensives of the NPA and pre-empt more tactical offensives towards the run-up of the closure of the US-Arroyo Regime and its Oplan Bantay Laya II and the inauguration of the new administration come June 30.

In Mindanao, the Eastern Mindanao Command of the AFP is mobilizing its three divisions with augmentation battalions from Luzon against the New People's Army. The Southern Mindanao Region (SMR) of the NPA is the main focus of the massive military offensives in Mindanao initiated and led by the 10th division, whose 10 battalions are reinforced by three more battalions from Luzon.

The 4th ID PA has focused its troops against the NPA in the North-Eastern Mindanao Region (NEMR) and the North Central Mindanao Region (NCMR). It is bringing in one more army battalion to augment its thinly scattered battalions in North-Eastern Mindanao Region.

The 6th ID PA has its guns trained against the NPA in the Far Southern Mindanao Region (FSMR), even as part of its forces is busy against the Moro revolutionary forces.

Part of the 1st Tabak Division, PA of the Western Mindanao Command of the AFP is launching its separate military offensives against NPA forces of the Western Mindanao Region (WMR). In its stubbornness, this nationwide military campaign may even last beyond the June 30 self-imposed deadline of the OBL2 of the US-Arroyo Regime.

This simultaneous last-minute military offensive of the US-Arroyo regime in Mindanao and in other regions of Luzon and the Visayas in general, is bound to fail miserably. In fact, nine years of OBL I and OBL II were not enough to totally stop, as a whole, and even to inconsequentiality in particular, the advance of the revolutionary movement.

One thing is sure however, the US-Arroyo regime's and the AFP's constant refusal to admit that its military campaigns in the past nine years are a complete failure is foolhardy, and intensifying its offensives now on a nationwide scale will only bring more misery to the people whose economy and social life have been constantly dislocated by AFP military operations and victimized by numerous human rights violations. This will only drain the reactionary government's resources much needed for social welfare and development projects, and use their mercenary troops as cannon fodder in the name of their privileged generals and the corrupt, reactionary puppet US-Arroyo regime.

It is in the interest of the majority of the people as well as the AFP foot soldiers themselves that the US-Arroyo regime and its stubborn generals stop these useless military offensives and focus in making amends with the people against whom they have committed human rights violations.

It is also in the best interest of the whole country for the new administration of Noynoy Aquino to truly work for peace by attempting to take bold steps to sincerely remove obstacles that bar the resumption of peace negotiations between the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP).

We call on the people to be vigilant, expose and oppose human rights violations committed in the course of the on-going massive military operations of the AFP. We also call on the AFP soldiers and junior officers to ask their superiors to stop this military offensive because this does not portend the possibility of a peace initiative of the incoming new administration.

In the face of these massive but desperate attacks launched by the AFP, we call on all Red commanders and fighters in Mindanao and the rest of the country to set ablaze your revolutionary zeal and stand your ground, to meticulously analyze enemy movement, to launch calculated tactical counter-offensives whenever possible during these operations, and to completely frustrate US imperialism and the Arroyo regime in their desperate intent to defeat the revolutionary movement.

KCNA on Tremendous Damage Done to DPRK by US

KCNA on Tremendous Damage Done to DPRK by US

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released the following report Thursday to expose all forms of crimes the U.S. imperialists committed against the Korean people up to now since their occupation of south Korea:

Six decades have passed since the U.S. imperialists, the sworn enemy of the Korean people, unleashed a war on this land, where they were leading a peaceful happy life.

The U.S. imperialists, chieftain of evils, committed the most barbarous and hideous crimes against the Korean people ever in the world history of wars during the last Korean War.

They committed thrice-cursed genocide, destruction and pillage during the war. They have regarded new People's Korea as a thorn in the flesh ever since their occupation of south Korea. They have persistently pursued an unprecedentedly harsh policy of isolating and stifling the system of the DPRK in wanton violation of the UN Charter and publicly accepted norms of international law, thus doing inestimably tremendous damage to it.

The Committee for Investigation into Damage Done by the U.S. to the Northern Half of Korea summed up all human and material damage brought by the U.S. imperialists to the northern half of Korea for the past six decades since they landed in south Korea on Sept. 8, 1945.

The total damages amount to 64 959 854 million U.S. dollars.

This calculation is based only on old records and official testimonies made by survivors. So it is presumed that there are much more damage that has not been ascertained.

The total amount will be incalculable if political, moral and cultural damages caused by slandering the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK, destruction of treasures of lasting value including revolutionary sites, historic sites and relics and other precious cultural assets, infliction of moral pressure on the Koreans through the moves for a new war and threats of preemptive nuclear attack and vicious bourgeois ideological and cultural poisoning are included.

With nothing can the U.S. make full compensation to the DPRK for the damage it caused to the DPRK by impeding Korea's reunification after illegally occupying south Korea and, accordingly, inflicting moral pain and misfortune upon the Korean people for more than half a century-long tragic division and hindering the unified political, economic and cultural development of the north and the south of Korea.

The crimes committed by the U.S. imperialists against the DPRK are something beyond human imagination in view of their scope and protracted, barbarous and shameless nature.

The Korean Central News Agency releases a report on the newly surveyed and ascertained damage done by the U.S. imperialists to the northern half of Korea in order to disclose all forms of crimes committed against the Korean people and force them to pay for all of them.

Massacres aimed to exterminate the Korean nation

The most serious damage done to the northern half of Korea by the U.S. imperialists was the monstrous killing of a great number of peaceable inhabitants.

Since their occupation of south Korea, the U.S. imperialist aggressors had perpetrated ceaseless attacks, gun and rifle firing and terrorism against areas north of the 38th parallel in order to destabilize the new country for the people advancing toward socialism and nip it in the bud, thus killing or abducting more than 13,900 people before the war.

The shuddering massacre of civilians the U.S. imperialists committed in the northern half of Korea after igniting the Korean War was unprecedentedly harsh barbarism in wanton violation of international laws on protection of civilians in time of war and publicly accepted wartime laws and regulations.

At least 1,231,540 peaceful inhabitants were cold-bloodedly killed by the U.S. imperialist brutes in the northern half of Korea during the three-year war.

During their temporary occupation of Sinchon County, the U.S. imperialist ogres killed a quarter of the county population. The number of the people killed by them in the whole period of the war stood at least 401,940 in Hwanghae Province, more than 162,180 in South Phyongan Province, over 129,390 in Kangwon Province, at least 116,220 in North Phyongan Province, over 115,300 in South Hamgyong Province, more than 82,020 in North Hamgyong Province and at least 64,240 in Jagang Province.

The U.S. imperialist brutes indiscriminately killed more than 157,840 inhabitants in Pyongyang alone.

Another thrice-cursed crime committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressors during the war was the large-scale germ warfare strictly banned by international law and the massive use of chemical weapons, weapons of mass destruction.

From late January to late March of 1952 the U.S. imperialists dropped germ bombs full of flies, fleas, bugs, mosquitoes and other harmful insects in over 400 places in the northern half of Korea more than 700 times, thus spreading dreadful malignant and acute epidemic viruses including pest, cholera, smallpox and epidemic hemorrhagic fever.

The poisonous gas bombs dropped as part of ill-famed germ warfare and chemical warfare claimed more than 50,000 people in the northern half of Korea including 1,379 inhabitants in Nampho City.

The U.S. imperialists, in utter disregard of the international convention on the treatment of POWs, killed at random POWs of the DPRK side and even used them as guinea pigs, not content with maltreating them.

The American barbarians launched a wholesale man-slaughter operation, wounding more than 2,463,090 and crippling at least 294,020 out of them. They are now under the state protection with no working ability, their hearts burning with towering hatred for the U.S. imperialist murderers and the strong determination to take revenge upon them.

A lot of people were abducted or went missing after being taken in by the U.S. imperialist aggressors' propaganda amidst the war holocaust. This left an indelible scar in the nation's history.

Even after it signed the Armistice Agreement, yielding to the heroic Korean people, the U.S. committed non-stop military attacks, assaults, terror and sabotage operations against the DPRK on the eastern and western coasts and on the land and in the air, leaving more than 24,910 people killed, abducted or wounded.

The U.S. imperialists carried out a terrorist operation against an airliner flying in the air above the Caribbean Sea in Oct. 1976, killing DPRK officials working in the field of the external affairs. This stripped naked their true colors as murderers before the world.

The U.S. imperialists killed or wounded a total of at least 5,060,770 civilians of the DPRK: 1,247,870 killed, 911,790 abductees and more than 391,740 reported missing.

According to damages calculated by international practices, they total 26,168,823 million U.S. dollars: 16,533,396 million for the dead, abductees and missing people and 9,635,427 million for the wounded and disabled when taking their possible working years and expected earnings, interest for the compensation unpaid and change in the U.S. currency value into due consideration.

These damages, however, do not include damages for organized and group human rights abuses such as assault and rape of women which the U.S. imperialists committed regardless of whether they were aged or juvenile or pregnant during their temporary occupation of the northern half of Korea.

It is elementary conscience and obligation of human being for an assailant to apologize and compensate to his victim. This also serves as a moral basis for peace of humankind and sound development of the international community even in light of relations among countries.

The U.S., however, requested Cuba to pay an indemnity to the tune of 62,333,333 U.S. dollars for its each pilot who met a death after intruding into the territorial air of Cuba in the mid-1990s. But it has persistently sidestepped the compensation to the Korean people for indiscriminately killing Koreans, doing harm to their lives and health and destabilizing their life, far from uttering even a word of apology.

In fact, damage done by the U.S. imperialists to the lives of the people in the northern half of Korea is hideous crimes unprecedented in human history in the light of the territory and population of the country and unpardonable from international legal and ethical points of view. The Korean people, therefore, have legitimate right to force them to pay for these crimes to the last.

Indiscriminate Destruction and Plunder

The destruction and plunder committed by the U.S. imperialists in the northern half of Korea surpassed by far those committed during the world war in the light of their scope and savage nature.

Property damages done to the Korean people by the U.S. for the past six decades total 16,703,169 million U.S. dollars.

The material and economic damages were summed up on the basis of internationally recognized calculation method.

The U.S. imperialists massively infiltrated terrorists and saboteurs into the northern half of Korea which was alive with the construction of a new country after the liberation. Those gangsters destroyed 3,029 blocks of peaceful structures including industrial establishments and dwelling houses, devastated and burned 1,073 hectares of cultivated land and 1,630 hectares of forests and looted properties and household articles of citizens including more than 1,069 cattle and pigs and thousands of heads of other domestic animals, to say nothing of state and public properties.

Property damages caused by the U.S. imperialists in the northern half of Korea up to the period before the start of the war amounted to 20,281 million U.S. dollars.

During the Korean War the U.S. imperialist aggressors reduced the cities and villages in the northern half of Korea to debris, in breach of war laws and regulations banning attack or bombardment on peaceful cities, villages, dwelling houses and buildings by any means. This war represented a history laying bare the brutality of the U.S. imperialist aggressors and their crimes.

Blustering that they would wipe 78 cities of north Korea off the surface of the earth, the U.S. imperialist aggressors massively bombed and shelled the whole territory of the northern half of Korea and even used internationally banned napalm bombs and bio-chemical bombs, thus turning its whole territory into wilderness of cinders and ashes.

The atrocities committed by the U.S. imperialists on the ground and in the sea and air resulted in severely destroying 50,941 buildings of industrial establishments, 28,632 school buildings at all levels, 4,534 public health buildings including hospitals and clinics, 579 scientific research institutions, 8,163 printing and cultural institutions and 2,077,226 dwelling houses. 7,491 churches, chapels, cathedrals and other buildings for religious services disappeared. This brought the total number of severely damaged buildings to 2,416,407.

Railways extending 4,879 km, roads extending 4,009 km and bridges totaling 1,109 km and 1,489 locomotives, 4,803 trucks and 6,281 fishing boats and ships were destroyed, and 1,715 reservoirs and relevant facilities were blown up or destroyed, causing tremendous human, material and environmental damage.

563,755 hectares of cultivated land were devastated and more than 155,500 hectares of paddy and non-paddy fields lost and millions of domestic animals were slaughtered or looted including 369,101 heads of cattle and 764,604 pigs.

Valuable national cultural heritages were ruthlessly vandalized or looted: 40,755,640 volumes of ancient and old books, documents and data including ancient books listed as national treasures more valuable than billions of dollars were burnt or plundered.

The inhabitants in the northern half of Korea lost most of all their personal properties during the devastating war.

Everything in the northern half of Korea was so severely destroyed that the U.S. imperialists predicted that Korea would not rise again even in 100 years.

Property damages caused by the U.S. imperialists to the northern half of Korea during the war reached 16,661,622 million U.S. dollars.

This proves that the Korean war of aggression launched by the U.S. imperialists was the most barbarous and destructive war ever fought in the world history of wars.

In the postwar period, too, the U.S. committed ceaseless provocations on the land and in the air and sea. It systematically infiltrated terrorists and saboteurs into the DPRK to destroy or burn peaceful facilities. In this course it inflicted 21,266 million U.S. dollar worth of damage upon it.

After defeating the aggressors the Korean people built with dignity a socialist power from scratch in a short span of time by their own efforts. But unspeakable was the aftermath of the indiscriminate destruction of the DPRK's economic foundation by the U.S. imperialists before and after the war.

The U.S. imperialists' sabotage deterred the normal development of the economy. This caused a productivity loss of 10,896 million U.S. dollars before the war and 5,461,460 million during the war.

Availing itself of this opportunity, the DPRK has to state that the U.S. is obliged to pay for many crimes.

Even in the early period of building a new country after its liberation, the Korean people used a lot of raw materials, funds and manpower for rehabilitating reservoirs to supply a large amount of electricity to the south Korean people and full irrigation water to the area of South Yonbaek from the compatriotic step.

The U.S. military authorities, however, collected a fabulous amount of water and electricity charges from the peasants of the said area and other south Korean inhabitants but have not properly paid to the DPRK for them.

They also issued at random currencies amounting to nearly 28.7 billion won by taking advantage of the situation in which the north and the south used common "Korean bank notes" after the liberation of the country and made them circulate in the areas of the northern half of Korea. In this way they plundered it of lots of foods, aquatic products and large quantities of natural resources including fuel and raw materials, thus throwing a big hurdle in the way of the Korean people's building of a new society.

The U.S. imperialists also brought enormous damage to the northern half of Korea by conducting the bio-chemical warfare on a large scale to seriously polluting the ecological environment.

The poisonous substance and germ sprayed by the U.S. imperialists over the areas of the northern half of Korea inflicted big damage on the lives and properties of the Korean people and living environment.

In the postwar period, too, they massively sprayed defoliant in the areas along the Military Demarcation Line to contaminate the air and inflict big damage on the growth of crops and animals and plants of the DPRK side. The amount of damages done by them reaches 4 448 million U.S. dollars.

A long period was required and a fabulous amount of funds were spent to restore to its original state the environment destroyed and polluted by the U.S. imperialists.

For example, the DPRK government was compelled to disburse enormous fund for decades only to combat epidemic hemorrhagic fever pathogens spread by the U.S. imperialists during the Korean War.

The amount of economic damages caused by the U.S. imperialists' environmental degradation and contamination in the areas of the northern half of Korea reaches nearly 505,356 million U.S. dollars.

The U.S. can never evade the responsibility for having inflicted big material and economic damage and losses on the Korean people much bigger than those in the world war and laid serious obstacles to the social development and economic construction in the northern half of Korea.

Product of the U.S. Policy of Isolating and Stifling the DPRK

The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK is a policy of state-sponsored terrorism aimed at bringing down the dignified Korean-style socialist system chosen by the Korean people.

Since it divided Korea into two, the U.S. has ceaselessly committed all forms of war provocations, focusing on the moves to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.

The U.S. imperialists committed hundreds of thousands of cases in wanton violation of the Military Armistice Agreement as evidenced by the infiltration of their armed spy ship "Pueblo" into the territorial waters of the DPRK. They have escalated military confrontation and screwed up tension on the Korean Peninsula while getting frantic with exercises for a war of aggression against the DPRK under various codenames every year including Team Spirit, Foal Eagle and Ulji Focus Lens aimed at mounting a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK.

Their increased war threat laid big hurdles in establishing a new society and building socialism in the northern half of Korea and hindered the planned and balanced development of the national economy, compelling it to allocate huge additional funds.

The Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government were compelled to put forward the line of putting all the people under arms and turning the whole country into a fortress to cope with the U.S. moves for igniting a new war. They had no choice but to carry on economic construction and defence upbuilding simultaneously while directing big efforts to civilian defence training at all times. This did damage worth 2,380,186 million U.S. dollars to the economic development and the improvement of the standard of people's living.

The U.S. imperialists' economic sanctions and blockade have been the keynote of their policy to isolate and stifle the DPRK.

It has been subject to their most protracted and harshest sanctions and blockade in the world.

The successive U.S. rulers have persistently applied systematic and overall economic sanctions and blockade against all sectors including trade, finance, investment, real estate, insurance, transport, post and telecommunications and visits of people for more than a half century to isolate and suffocate the DPRK firmly adhering to independence under the uplifted banner of socialism.

The U.S. started slapping economic sanctions and blockade against the DPRK and other socialist countries after faking up the "the Coordinating Committee for Export to Communist Area" (COCOM) in November 1949. It has intensified economic sanctions and blockade against the DPRK year by year by invoking more than 20 laws including "the Trading with the Enemy Act" and "Export and Import Bank Act," all unilaterally fabricated in wanton violation of international law.

From the 1990s, difficult years when the socialist movement suffered a temporary setback, in particular, the U.S. formed the imperialist allied forces to totally isolate and stifle the DPRK, a socialist fortress, and left no means untried to achieve their purpose. All these moves were unimaginably vicious.

In July 1996 the U.S. cooked up such conspiratorial mechanism as the so-called "Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-use Goods and Technologies" to replace the COCOM which collapsed after the end of the Cold War. It worked hard to totally suffocate the economy of the DPRK through the international sanctions by applying the above-said arrangement to every case.

The U.S. has become evermore reckless in its offensive for international pressure on the DPRK in the new century.

It kicked off a frantic nuclear racket after listing the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil". It listed the DPRK as a "sponsor of terrorism" after faking up fictitious cases. After running the whole gamut of sheer intrigues such as "counterfeit notes", "human rights abuses" and "drug trafficking" the U.S. prodded its satellite countries into knocking into shape and effectuating PSI and the "Regional Maritime Security Initiative" aimed at maritime blockade. Through this campaign for collective sanctions and blockade the U.S. escalated the pressure and blackmailing against the DPRK.

The U.S. persistent sanctions and blockade badly affected every sector of the peaceful economic construction in the DPRK. Damages are on the steady increase.

The U.S. behavior is indescribably base. It froze properties of not only state and public institutions of the DPRK but its citizens. It even prevented individual persons from inheriting properties and froze insurance money. Not content with this, it blocked remittance and prohibited the sending of parcels.

The U.S. most vicious moves to stifle the economy of the DPRK found their manifestation in the sanctions against trade and financial transaction.

It banned not only its businesses but its civilians from having any dealing with businesses and citizens of the DPRK. It put pressure on those countries, businesses and individuals having economic relations with the DPRK, disturbing trade. DPRK traders were subject to U.S. watch and control wherever they went.

These obstructions to free trading activities caused the DPRK to suffer enormous losses in export and import aimed at developing the nation's economy and improving the standard of people's living.

In case the DPRK banks settle accounts with those of other countries in U.S. dollars, the U.S. enforced vicious financial sanctions, unconditionally freezing the relevant funds at U.S. banks. This rendered it impossible for the DPRK to make any settlement in international markets, causing big financial losses in its business.

The U.S. is putting pressure on other countries not to extend any credit or give economic assistance to the DPRK and barring even individuals from making any investment in it. It is also pressurizing its satellite countries not to sell any new equipment or transfer technology to the DPRK.

Worse still, the U.S. did not hesitate to commit such piracy as seizing by force of arms DPRK trading ships when they were sailing in the open seas the free sailing in which is allowed by international law and confiscating their cargo as evidenced by the forcible search of its trade cargo ship "Sosan" carried out by the U.S. in the open seas near Yemen in broad daylight by prodding Spain.

The U.S. moves to economically stifle the DPRK and bring down its system found their vivid manifestation in the fact that it deliberately delayed and scuttled the provision of light war reactors and delivery of heavy oil, the hardcore commitments under the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework adopted in October of 1994.

The U.S. dragged on the construction of light water reactors and the provision of heavy oil, deliberately laying hurdles from their outset, and finally suspended both of the jobs which it had conducted for form's sake. This shameless action of the U.S. caused the power industry of the DPRK to suffer electricity losses amounting to astronomical figures and brought awful consequences to the national economy and the people's living after the adoption of the said agreed framework. Due to the U.S. delay in the construction of light water reactors and suspension of the provision of heavy oil the DPRK suffered the loss amounting to 1,165,008 million US dollars.

Immeasurable is the damage the Korean people suffered owing to the economic sanctions and blockade, the products of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK. But the damages brought to light bring the total amount of the accurately estimated damages incurred by the U.S. to the DPRK for six decades up to 2005 to 13,729,964 million U.S. dollars.

The DPRK's building of a thriving nation was impeded due to the "resolutions on sanctions" the U.S. cooked up by instigating the UNSC, calling into question the launch of satellites for peaceful purposes in recent years and labeling the nuclear test conducted by it in a legitimate manner to defend the supreme interests and sovereignty of the country a "threat to peace." These damages are yet to be calculated.

The despicable economic sanctions and blockade perpetrated by the U.S. for more than a half century are the illegal and brigandish crimes and a wanton encroachment on the sovereignty of the state with no ground in the light of international law.

Nevertheless, the U.S. has neither compensated for such base crimes nor repented of them. It is defiling the inviolable dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK by faking up the case of warship "Cheonan" just like a thief crying "Stop the thief!" and working with blood-shot eyes to impose disasters of a nuclear war on this land.

The U.S. has used the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula for systematically isolating and stifling the DPRK, not for ensuring peace there. It deliberately derailed the six-party talks. Persistently sidestepping the peaceful co-existence with the DPRK, the U.S. is fostering division and confrontation between the north and the south and hindering the uniform development of the Korean nation, ceaselessly doing unspeakable damage to the former.

All these facts once again clearly prove that the U.S. imperialists are the vicious and barbarous aggressors, murderers, shameless wreckers of peace and the sworn enemy of the Korean nation.

The more reckless the U.S. becomes in its moves to hurt the dignified DPRK, far from apologizing and compensating for its crimes committed against the Korean nation, the higher the hatred of the army and people of the DPRK for it will mount and the stronger they will grow in their resolution to take revenge upon it. The provokers will get nothing but merciless destruction and death for their political and military confrontation.

The army and people of the DPRK who have grown to be matchless revolutionary ranks under the leadership of the Party and the leader will never pardon the crimes of the U.S. imperialists but force them to pay a thousand-fold price for them. They will bolster up the deterrent for self-defence in every way under the banner of Songun, firmly defend the peace in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world and build a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation on this land without fail.
