Solidarity with Palestine

Solidarity with Palestine

A message of solidarity by Lualhati Madlangawa-Guerrero

Salaam to the peaceful and struggling Palestinians
Shalom to the Jews who are willing (if possible) to support and fraternize.

It all started with a voyage of peace, only to end up with anger and hate, all of these are made by those who braggingly called the land "the promised" that in fact, as if for theirs and not for everyone, sadly but true.

I strongly support the Palestinian peoples, and its sympathizers for its struggle for Palestinian identity and existence in the middle least, all in midst of the following events regarding the raid on ships carrying supplies, aid for the Palestinian people by the Israeli army made last 31 May 2010 4:30 a.m.

Despite its peaceful reason, of providing medicines, food, and other supplies, the Israeli Army, fueled by War and discontent over Palestinian peoples, insists in blocking off aid, justifying the clause, justifying as pursuant to Article 23 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, saying it indicates that if goods entering enemy territory contribute to the enemy's war effort.

But then, despite all their justifications, their actions can be called as a collective punishment over the Palestinian people, as it restricts the flow of materials for basic needs and for reconstruction of infrastructure and homes that were either destroyed, or severely damaged by Israel, in the Gaza War. While Amnesty International and other human rights groups reject Israel's account of the effect of the blockade according to Artcle 23 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, saying that "mass unemployment, extreme poverty, food insecurity and food price rises caused by shortages have left four in five Gazans dependent on humanitarian aid."

Somehow despite all the "defense", "justification" regarding the actions made by the Israeli army over Palestine, it affects the entire people fighting for their life, liberty and happiness. Somehow these Israelis didn't remember their days when their ancestors being blocked by the British while in their boats going to Palestine and some were being saved by the Irgun, Stern Gang and the like. And so are the Palestinians who experienced the same acts as what the Jews experienced then, for sure some Israelis who heard these kind of events and recall the lives of their ancestor-refugees in old dilapidated boats towards Palestine, Eretz-Israel.

Well...
History repeats as what we expect, but then despite all these, we demand all peace loving, non-aligned peoples and nations to unite and confront the crisis made by the Zionists, if not all the Jews (since some may hath supported the Palestinian struggle) regarding this hell-of-a-kind action what they called "justifiable." The sailors, the people around the aid ships demand peace and support, and must be given an open palm from those whom recognized their plight as people, who need food and lothes, medicine and care and not a clenched fist, bullets, bayonets and bombs, harassment if they wanted peace since they shouted "shalom" many times and thus must be acted, and if not only to end up their peace within the promised, holy land useless.

I hope, like Yasser Arafat, may hear these words in every Palestinian:
"I swear to God, I will see [the Palestinian state], whether as a martyr or alive. Please, God, give me the honor of becoming a martyr in the fight for Jerusalem."
Only to be fulfilled in a series of events wherein the struggle be intensified at all times. May the Intifada continue to free Palestine from the river to the sea.

Thank you.
