DPRK's Might Strengthened under Songun Leadership

Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il has placed the political and military might of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the highest peak with his outstanding Songun leadership. With the result, the DPRK is demonstrating its dignity as an invincible socialist power and pushing ahead with the building of a thriving nation.

Over the past five decades since he inspected a Korean People's Army unit on August 25, Juche 49 (1960) to start his Songun revolutionary leadership, he has always directed primary attention to strengthening the political and military power of the country and wisely guided the effort for this purpose.

He has achieved the sameness of ideology in the Workers' Party of Korea, army and revolutionary ranks and accelerated the revolution and construction with the army as the pillar and main force of the country. He has also boosted the nation's defense capabilities in line with the principle of self-defense.

Attaching great importance to the position and role of the army, he has given top priority to increasing the military strength of the country.

Under his leadership, the army has grown to be an invincible one serving the leader and the Party devotedly and a powerful force for the cause of Juche and the building of a thriving nation.

Defense industry has developed into a modern and independent one so that the entire army could be modernized and an all-people, nationwide defense system established in the country.

Now the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet regime are zealously seeking a preemptive strike at the DPRK. But the DPRK is an impregnable fortress with its political and military power ever growing under the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il.
