PNP-RMG ambushed by the NPA

Members of the Sergio Lobia Command-Eastern Samar under the Efren Martires Command-Eastern Visayas ambushed elements of the 3rd Maneuver Platoon-Regional Mobile Group of the Philippine National Police patrolling aboard motorcycles along the road of Brgy. Tamgbo, Arteche, Eastern Samar this 26th of February, 2011, at around eleven o'clock in the morning. Died on the spot is Police Inspector Al Lianza Tantiado and severely wounded three of his men after being exploded by a command-detonated explosive and a volley of shot made by the Red Warriors. PO1 Portajada survived the ambush and immediately surrendered his weapon. He was even ordered by the Red Warriors to be sent home safely. Seized in fighting are three M16 rifles, one M14 rifle, two .45 caliber pistols and a .9 mm pistol, ammunition and other military goods.
The patrolling elements of the PNP are being returned to their headquarters in the town of Arteche from the barrio of Catumsan. The PNP-RMG are active partner of the AFP in launching combat and clearing operations in large parts of Northern and Eastern Samar under "Oplan Bayanihan" of the current regime. It was proven by the confiscated data from the elements of the PNP-RMG their active role in setting up monitoring monitoring-intelligence units/assets, checkpoints, quick reaction force and other similar type being a partner with the AFP in counter-insurgency operations .
The ambush is also in response to the call of the region in intensifying and increase the level of guerrilla warfare and to defeat the current regime with its "Oplan Bayanihan." This is also in response for he long-sought justice of Eastern Samar in many cases of human rights violations by the AFP and PNP-RMG.
More importantly, it is proved the tactical offensives are successful in midst of thick enemy operations in the border of Northern and Eastern Samar, the ambush was successful all due to the warm support and patronage of the people of Eastern Samar to the New People's Army.
