Red fighters of the Armando Dumandan Command-Front 33 Operations Command of the New People's Army in Southern Mindanao inflict several casualties on 10th ID-AFP troops engaged in combat operations disguised as peace and development outreach programs. The March 11 and 13 NPA actions in Compostela Valley Province hit the 10th ID-AFP combat troops resulting in at least 15 enemy casualties, with four killed including a company commander.

At around 1 pm, Friday, March 11, in Sitio Tan-awan, Barangay Malinawon, Mawab, Compostela Valley Province, within the perimeter of the newly transferred 10th ID-AFP headquarters, Red fighters blasted a command-detonated anti-personnel mine against the 40-man column of the Division Reconnaissance Company killing four enemy combatants on the spot including company commander 1Lt. Godofredo Despojo Jr. and wounding 12 others.

Eyewitnesses confirmed the enemy ferried four cadavers in body bags and at least ten wounded fascist soldiers. Two 6x6 AFP trucks fetched the dead and wounded in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Tuburan, Mawab Comval. Contrary to AFP statements following the attack, there were no casualties on the NPA side.

Lt. Col. Lyndon Paniza, commander and spokesman of the 72nd IB-AFP, pressured to make an official denial -- hastily confirmed only one wounded and later announced that 1Lt. Despojo was slain. Lt. Col. Paniza's denial is to be expected as the blast site is within the perimeter of the new 10th ID-AFP headquarters in Mawab, ComVal.

On Sunday, March 13 at 11 am, a sniper team of the ADC-NPA hit Sgt. John Elming of the 3rd Special Forces-AFP in the Barangay center of Latiban, New Corella, Davao del Norte.

The massive 10th ID-AFP combat operations clearly confirm that "peace and development" catchphrases are merely smokescreens in the US-Aquino regime's Internal Peace and Security Plan-Bayanihan, a deceptive counterrevolutionary operational plan that is no less vicious than the previous regime's Bantay Laya. Aquino's anti-people Oplan Bayanihan will surely fail just like Arroyo's Bantay Laya because it aims to perpetuate the same rotten social system that has oppressed the people and does not have the people's interest at its core. Oplan Bayanihan's doomed fate in Southern Mindanao and elsewhere is sealed as the people and the New People's Army collectively work and inflict more head and body blows on the enemy and intensify the people's war.
