FM Spokesman Snubs Anti-DPRK "Resolution on Human Rights"

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry Saturday gave the following answer to the question put by KCNA as regards the anti-DPRK "resolution on human rights" adopted at the Third Committee of the 65th UN General Assembly:

EU and Japan railroaded the "resolution" peppered with all sorts of fabrications through the committee this year, too.

The "resolution" is a product of the political plot of the hostile forces who have nothing to do with the protection and improvement of human rights.

The hostile forces led by the U.S. hatch this plot every year to bring down the DPRK's system through pressure and conspiratorial means by labeling it a "human rights abuser".

As for the year 2003 in which the farce of adopting this kind of "resolution" started, it was the year when the Bush Administration kicked off overall confrontation with the DPRK, overturning the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework. It was a typical example of politicizing human rights that EU, which pursued dialogue with the DPRK over human rights, unexpectedly became "a sponsor of the anti-DPRK resolution on human rights" in pursuance of the U.S. policy of confrontation.

The West is being condemned by the world community for its racial discrimination, maltreatment of immigrants, violence against women and ill-treatment of prisoners and all other human rights abuses. Yet, it adopted UN "resolutions" on "human rights issues" of only some countries including the DPRK like a thief crying "Stop the thief!" This is the most striking example of the selectivity and double-standards in handling "human rights issues".

The DPRK vehemently and totally rejects the recent "resolution" as it did in the past.

It will steadily strengthen and develop the Korean-style socialist system which fully protects the human rights and comprehensively promotes them.
