Production Goes Up in Metal Industrial Sector


Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- Tremendous achievements have been made in the metal industrial sector of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea this year marked by the 65th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Such major steel producers as the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Songjin Steel Complex, the Chollima Steel Complex, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex have completed Juche-based steel-making systems based on fuel available in the country and sharply increased the steel output to contribute to the economic growth.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, with the help of scientists, have put modern curved type strand-casting machines into operation to keep the production going on a high level.

The Songjin Steel Complex has made scientific and technical preparations for expanding the production capacity and operating furnaces on the basis of latest technologies.

The Chollima Steel Complex has built UHP electric arc furnace No. 2 and equipped the Posan Iron Works with an up-to-date oxygen separator. It has also updated or reconditioned existing facilities for Juche-based iron, steel and alloy steel output.

The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, the Chongjin Steel Plant, the Puryong Ferroalloy Factory and the Hungnam Terminal Factory have introduced advanced science and technologies in their production processes.

The Musan Mining Complex has built a large-sized cone crushing plant capable of quadrupling the earth-scraping capacity.

The Unryul Mine has finished a project for boosting the iron ore transport capacity, while the Jaeryong Mine provided itself with stopes with large deposits and overfulfilled the yearly plan.
