Rodong Sinmun on Immense Pride of Korean Women

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean women are the dignified women who have pushed one of the wheels of revolutionary chariot together with men after the promulgation of the law on sex equality 64 years ago the first of its kind in human history.

Rodong Sinmun Thursday stresses this in a jointly signed article.

It goes on:

The Korean women's heroic stamina is depicted in the imposing Chollima Statue soaring to the blue sky of the country. There are a great many statues in the world which portray knights on horseback threading the battlefield. But there is no such statue with a woman on its back as the Chollima Statue which represents a legendary horse dashing a thousand-ri (400 kilometers) at a breath.

President Kim Il Sung worked the miracle of history of breaking down the unethical outlook on the women which has been conventionalized and institutionalized as unbreakable ethics and morals worldwide for thousands of years.

He was the dear leader and kind father whom the humankind acclaimed for the first time in the history of women's movement. Thanks to his arduous and glorious history a new world of freedom and emancipation for the women was ushered in leading to the bright world today.

Convinced that inexhaustible is the ability of the women to transform the society, the nature and themselves, General Secretary Kim Jong Il made sure that women are provided with high and wide-ranging posts in political, economic, military, cultural and all other fields.

In the DPRK special importance is attached to the issue of talented women and woman officials and women are granted top priority benefit and treatment regardless of their jobs under the rules set by the state.

Kim Jong Suk, the anti-Japanese heroine, was a typical Korean woman revolutionary who pioneered the sacred history of devotedly defending the leader, made a breakthrough in the Korean revolution with a lofty mission and responsibility as a revolutionary comrade of the President and gave birth to and brought up the future of the Korean revolution. The ranks of the Korean women rallied around her have grown to be the ranks of loyalists of Kim Jong Suk type and the large contingents of the woman revolutionaries.

The Korean women are not only the leader's revolutionary comrades sharing the purpose and destiny with him but dynamic and resourceful ones carrying out half of the country's affairs as well as flowers of the revolution and flowers of the country possessed of the most beautiful and noblest traits.

The destiny of the Korean women in the 21st century is guaranteed by the ever-victorious leadership provided by Kim Jong Il. The Korean women are beautiful flowers in full bloom under the warm sunrays of the great sun, the article concludes.
