Mexican Paper on DPRK's Efforts to Build Thriving Nation

Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- The Mexican paper Unidad Nacional on April 30 carried a photo of General Secretary Kim Jong Il providing field guidance to the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex and an article titled "DPRK's prospect of building a thriving nation".

The article said that this year the DPRK plans to continuously and vigorously step up the drive to put the production of consumer goods on a modern and scientific basis and carry on in a far-sighted way the modernization of light industry on an overall scale at the cutting-edge level, not partially at an ordinary level.

More brisk all-people movement is going on in the DPRK to update local industrial factories across the country and run them in full capacity on the locally available raw materials under the torch of the local industry revolution Kim Jong Il kindled while giving field guidance to factories in Changsong County in November last year, it said.

The all-people and nationwide interest in the light industry, set as a main front of general offensive for this year, is remarkably increasing in the DPRK, the article said, adding that signal events are expected to take place one after another in the light industry of the DPRK.

The DPRK has already taken the position of a politico-ideological and military power and, accordingly, it can be definitely called a great prosperous and powerful country when it hits the goal for building an economic power to improve the standard of people's living, it stressed.
