BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Civil society groups representing Palestinian Christians commemorated the 63rd anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba on Sunday, in an event that saw more than 100 gather beside the separation wall in Bethlehem.

The city's Sumud Center, part of the Arab Educational Institute near Rachael’s Tomb, acted as a meeting point for marchers, who walked along the route of the wall to the Wi’am Centre for conflict resolution.

Wi'am director Zughbi Zughbi lead the gathered group in song, and gave a speech, urging Palestinian Christians and Christians around the world to stand by the oppressed regardless of religion, color, or nationality.

"A Palestinian state must be recognized," Zughbi demanded.

Participating organizations included the Arab Educational Institute, a member organization of Pax Christi International in Palestine, the Jerusalem Inter-Church Centre, YMCA, Wi’am Center, and Sabeel Centre.
