The 1st Pulang Bagani Company-NPA in Southern Mindanao ambushed a platoon of the fascist 69th Infantry "Palparan" Battalion-AFP killing at least five soldiers and confiscating two high-powered rifles last Sunday, April 11 at past 7 am in Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Lumiad, Paquibato District, Davao City.

The firefight that lasted for two and a half hours resulted to the death of five fascist enemies and several other 69th IB-AFP soldiers wounded. There are no casualties on the NPA side. The Red fighters seized two high-powered rifles -- one M16 rifle and one M203 grenade launcher -- and a K-9 bomb sniffing dog which was later freed by the NPA.

Two Philippine Air Force rescue bomber helicopters which served as reinforcement withdrew from the ambush site after being hit from the NPA's volume fire. The AFP reinforcement helicopters left their dead and wounded behind.

Since its deployment in August 2009, the Palparan Battalion suffered from a series of NPA tactical offensives -- with this latest ambush being their eight defensive action.

As the military suffered another political and military defeat, they have become more and more demoralized. Their Oplan Bantay Laya remains a failure as they try to beat the June 2010 deadline.

In order to save face, they twist, if not completely hide, facts from the public. The April 11 incident pushed the military unit of the 10th Infantry Division-Eastern Mindanao Command-AFP to:

1. Deny that it was an ambush initiated by the NPA when in fact the Palparan Battalion was overtaken by inutile intelligence information;

2. Deny that the helicopter bombers were hit by the Red fighters even as there is no other reason to withdraw from the ambush site and leave their casualties behind;

3. Deny, as usual, the number of their casualties and the confiscated HPRs; and

4. Deny that their troops were badly demoralized. Instead they boasted of conducting hot pursuit operations against the Red fighters. But because soldiers from the Palparan Battalion are already afraid of conducting military operations in the area, they are now using a lumad minor, whom they deliberately armed, as pawn in their counter-revolutionary operations.

The NPA, as always, will defend the masses and guerilla territories from the abusive AFP/PNP troops. Surely, the Palparan Battalion and other AFP/PNP units will count more defeats from the revolutionary movement as they continue to enter guerilla areas and conduct fascist and counterrevolutionary actions.
