Letter condemning the US-ROK joint Military exercises

22, February 2011

Dear comrades and friends,

We’re pleased to extend you the great Juche-Songun greetings and high appreciations.

The South Korea-US Combined Forces Command announced on February 15 that the south Korean and US armies would stage the joint military exercises codenamed “Key Resolve” throughout south Korea from February 28 to March 10, and part of the “Foal Eagle” joint drills which would go together with the former would continue till late April.

Huge amount of the US maritime force including an aircraft carrier and 12,800-strong US troops, and some 200,000 south Korean puppet troops, far more than that of last year, are to be hurled to the drills.

The aggressive military drills are war exercises to invade the DPRK, for all intents and purposes, and are aimed to “remove the nukes, missiles and biological and chemical weapons of the north in a nonsensical contingency in the Korean Peninsula ”.

The projected drills are a clear proof to the hostile policy against the DPRK and the inter-Korean confrontational policy pursed by the US and the south Korean regime, and will push the already worsened inter-Korean relations into a catastrophe, further aggravate the military tension on the peninsular, posing a grave threat to peace and security of the world as well as the Northeast Asian area.

The dangerousness and the consequences which could be entailed from the drills are rendered more serious since they are to be staged now that the positive initiatives of the DPRK for improved inter-Korean relations were rejected by the vicious impeding moves of the south Korean regime.

The reality of today plainly shows that the US and south Korean bellicose forces never stand for peace and improved inter-Korean relations. What they are seeking is only confrontation and war.

The US and south Korean war maniacs should stop at once the provocative war drills, pondering over the catastrophic consequences of their reckless war moves against the DPRK.

Now the south Korean people of different circles are vigorously waging the anti-US, anti-war struggle for peace, bitterly condemning the plan of the US and south Korean warmongers to stage the “Key Resolve” and “Foal Eagle” joint war exercises.

Availing ourselves of this opportunity we express our expectation that your friendly organization which has sent firm support and solidarity to our people's just struggle for safeguarding peace and realizing the country’s reunification will conduct positive solidarity actions against the north-targeted war moves of the US and south Korean warmongers. They may include releasing statement and sending protest message to the US and south Korean governments. Thanks a lot for your favorable response in advance.

Comradely yours,

Zo Il Min,
Representative of the Pyongyang Mission of the AINDF
