Aquino feeding AFP corruption--CPP

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today assailed Benigno Aquino III for "feeding the corruption of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP)" when he ordered the release of P11 billion for the acquisition of more weapons and another P4.2 billion for a housing project for soldiers and the police.
"By releasing large amounts of funds for the military and police, Aquino is completely ignoring the widespread dissatisfaction of the Filipino people over large-scale corruption in the AFP and PNP, especially among in its highest echelons," said the CPP. "Aquino is only helping promote the embezzlement of public funds by releasing more funds to the military and police even as corruption cases and anomalies are being exposed."
"The AFP claims that there is no more corruption in the AFP," said the AFP. "They fail, however, to convince the Filipino people, as no officer of the AFP has been prosecuted and punished for plunder."
The CPP also cited similarities between Aquino and dictator Marcos in giving special treatment to the AFP and PNP. "Marcos nurtured the military and police to serve as brutal machineries to suppress the people's resistance to martal law," said the CPP. "Aquino is turning a blind eye to corruption in the military and police with the aim of employing them in his regime's brutal campaign to suppress the revolutionary movement and the people's mass struggles."
