A "Possible" unity of Liberals, Opportunists and Wingnuts?

A "Possible" unity of Liberals, Opportunists and Wingnuts?
Lualhati Madlangawa-Guerrero

It all started as the "left" opportunists joined amongst the ranks of the Liberals all in the name of "support" and of a "coalition." This tendency somehow shows how opportunistic what the "left" opportunists are: assailing the left, creating black propaganda, anything desperate all in the name of grabbing votes using a hodge podge of "left" vocabulary and of some sort.

However,
This kind of relationship was added, this time by right wingers, or rather say wingnuts that seemingly desperate to gain votes using the Liberals and even the centrists who still controlled the government. True, as they joined forces with the former two in condemning the left: as murderers, as disturbers of peace, and the like.

I really notice how these wingnuts, same as the "left" opportunists in trying to join into the political scene despite every controversy they've instigated. Like the left they condemn, they started to vent their propaganda: a concoction of populist rhetoric and of conservatism a la the Carlists and of the Mensheviks.

Somehow, Noynoy's kind tries to copy Villar's tactic, but then that kind of tactic is far from Villar's. Ocampo and Maza remained independent whilst acting as guest candidates of the Nacionalista Party and their alliance is more into the compatibility of the platforms they advocated. The "left" opportunists, goes by the name of Risa Hontiveros, joined the ranks of Noynoy Aquino and calling herself a "Liberal" while the wingnuts, mostly coming from Lakas-Kampi "Chistian-Muslim Democrats" also joined into the fray, like Salceda. These people somehow is no different from a traditional politician who joins a party for a sake. And as for Hontiveros, she joined the Liberal Party without any reason except bragging her CARPER and the Cheaper Medicines Bill all despite the anomalies in regards to those two bills, joining at the landlord despite the Hacienda Luisita tragedy in which the Cojuangco-Aquino family was involved!

Anyway,
Their opportunism, "anti-Communist" and populist rhetoric brings them together without any cause except to preserve the rotten status quo. They have no concrete platform except to join into the flow and taking the Aquino name an opportunity. They aren't even ideologically liberal too! Joining into the flow without any platform which is compatible to theirs? If that's the case, this will be the conclusion:

This picture somehow shows how the progressives wanted genuine representation and showing off its absolute opposition against the system to be led by the opportunists and of the reactionaries, especially in the legislature. And like Mao Zedong, the picture shows a similar word:

"炮打司令部"
-BOMBARD THE HEADQUARTERS

Somehow these words being said by the late chairman whom the wingnuts despised very much are likely for the progressives to say so against the opportunists and of the wingnuts whether be in Malacanang, in Batasang Pambansa up to the Barangay halls wherein some controlled by vested interests.

I hope people, especially progressive leaning individuals must be keen on the "possible" unity of Liberals, Opportunists and even Wingnuts all in pursuit of victory, positions, etc. They may have won the elections, but then they may never win the hearts of the people fully. And instead letting people venting their rage in the name of bombarding the headquarters of reaction, opportunism and careerism. The events similar to the late days of Marcos regime to the late days of the Aquinos may likely to repeat if possible.

Advance the resistance against the unity of reactionary ultra-right and "left" social fascists!

Reflections on Palparan's "Über-personalistic" responses

Reflections on Palparan's "Über-personalistic" responses
by Lualhati Madlangawa-Guerrero

It was Sunday night when I watched a senatorial debate on TV, that debate seemed to be good at first, but it turned out to be a throwing of personal replies-especially the "defence" given by the senatorial candidate and the man known as "butcher" Jovito Palparan.

True to his background, he may admit himself that he killed enemy combatants, but then killing enemy combatants may include atrocities against the people. But then, despite the accusations with factual evidences, he tried to defend his stance while at the same time responding it with various fabricated accusations against the left movement whom he's against for. Including his personal attacks within the anti-Communist spectrum.

One example is on how he called fellow congressman and senatorial candidate Satur Ocampo a "Communist leader." True, since he went on underground during the martial law years only to return to the legal struggle and end up as a congressman for years-making enough laws that uplifted the poor and yet some being blocked. How about the one who is blaming? He may tried to create some as he could but he focused much on mudslinging and even demonizing the left so much same as the wingnuts in the legislature! True, as Ocampo advocated change, Palparan seemingly advocated the contrary all in the name of "order": likely to call it as change vs. order in short.

However,
I also notice that the rates end up in favor of Palparan instead of Ocampo, perhaps it was also out of black propaganda being circulated continuously in every mass medium, whether it is TV, radio to Youtube and Podcast. And I even think that low ratings for Satur and even Liza Maza are products, by products of black propaganda, mudslinging, and even harassment and of the like to destroy the legal left: made by the wingnuts, with the butcher as its forefront.

And in addition to that,
Noticing how Palparan emphasised Ocampo much as a "Communist leader" and accusing him much in killings whilst he can't speak of his stance regarding extrajudicial killings made by the military! He may spoke much of alleged NPA atrocities, and yet he can't speak much of military-related atrocities in the countryside that contrubuted much in the increase of their "enemy!" As he, a soldier, dutifully loyal to the chain of command also defend it very much also as a personal matter.

And as for Ocampo,
He may also think as the butcher seemingly acts as if "misunderstood" or really acting "ignorant" about the enemy-especially its brand of justice against its enemies. Imbued with experiences in the underground during the martial law era, Ocampo really wanted justice as possible no matter what consequence occur; at the same the the rebel's "revolutionary justice" is far from Palparan's and the entire wingnut's own style of justice-that benefits the rich instead of the poor and includes atrocities. I even notice how the wingnuts really loved, glorified the purges made by the rebels that end up with perpetrators who really conduct the killings (save those who confessed their crimes and hath their errors rectified) joining the bandwagon made by the fascists! And it includes "surenderees" who in fact, criminals who escaped justice simply by joining the ranks of the enemy, acting as informants, as mercenaries, as propagandists who vent "black propaganda" against their former kind.

And thus,
true to what I expected, that the butcher Palparan and the entire wingnut gang blindly heed the voice of the criminals who run over him to escape from charges against the revolution and even creating charges against them, that in fact can be fabricated or a concoction of contradicting truths that they themselves do and not of the movement they once belong. Palparan may have spoke of massacres, but then he can't speak much of his stance on crimes which the military hath done against activists all in the name of "anti-Communism".

And yet I still encounter high responses for him? God forbid, but his reasons, calling the red's armed struggle "outmoded" in "democratic" countries is far from what he expected. He may have read books but then he simply misjudged it like those of the apathetics and those who rally over him. They may have underestimated Ocampo, but none of them created solutions to alleviate poverty nor looking for answers in questions in regards to the problems of the society. True, for what they think of poor people as "ignorant" and the solution is to kill what they call "Communists."

Or rather say,
They really intentionally acting "ignorant" or "misunderstood" as they could, that the struggle the leftists made, even in democratic countries may continue "with unbated ferocity in various forms: sanguinary and bloodless, violent and peaceful, military and economic, educational and administrative." And for sure EDSA "revolution", which is an example of a "peaceful" revolt may even call it as communist instigated or whatsoever! As well as continuously calling the rebels, including the legal left as murderers and bandits whilst the instigators of crimes are along with them! If that's the case, how ignorant then!

Well...
Due to what I expect, of low rates for Ocampo and High appraisal for Palparan due to black propaganda or whatsoever created by the wingnuts, including murderers turned apologetics, that "dead man walking" and his band of zombies and bandits really doing their job well same as they advocate their brand of "democracy" which in fact a dictatorship. His BANTAY partylist is even a cult of the Marcos Dictatorship too-that one cause of joining is their "anti-Communist" stance that he also benefited from it.

And thus,
Their, as well as his verbo-physical bullshit, no matter they gained successes may end up rather nothing, they'll simply and up facing charges of crimes against the people and be punished with the fullest extent of revolutionary law-that in the end, may likely for them to understood how revolutionary justice, different from what they think of, really is.

RedStarKatleah supports KABATAAN PARTYLIST

This site strongly supports Kabataan Partylist as the representative of the youth and student sector in the country. True to its principle and to its promise of uplifting the people, not just the studentry and of the youth, the Kabataan Partylist, with its representative Raymond "Mong" Palatino encourages the youth to join in genuine nation building despite every controversy or anomalies being happened.

For sure most of us heard about this party. Being criticized along with the members of the legal left as wreckers of social order, Kabataan Partylist, like Bayan Muna, Anakpawis, Gabriela women's party, and newly emerged parties like ACT, Katribu and Akap Bata somehow wanted a genuine reform program, contrary to those advocated by traditional politicians and of the like as part of a genuine framework for social change. KPL's act making "No permit no exam" policies be illegalized as well as its opposition for the increase in tuition and other fees supports the cause of the youth in having affordable, if not free education for all. And so is in uplifting knowledge and good recreation though advocacies including a bill having public libraries and good recreational facilities in every part of the country.

I hope people may understand how Kabataan Partylist, as well as other genuinely progressive partylists contributes to the country even in simple manner, contrary to those who spread black propaganda and other slanderous messages pointing against them.

So vote for Kabataan Partylist!
A vote for progression means a fulfillment for our youth!

LP’S Aquino yet again echoes the Military tune – Maza

LP’S Aquino yet again echoes the Military tune – Maza*

Liberal Party standard bearer Noynoy Aquino is once again adopting the very tune the military and its Commander-in-Chief – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo – use for their demolition project against progressive individuals and organizations.

This was the statement of Makabayan-Nacionalista senatorial candidate Liza Maza on Senator Aquino’s spokesperson Edwin Lacierda's latest statement accusing Nacionalista Party as pro-communist and slamming Col. Ariel Querubin’s alliance with pro-communist Manny Villar.

“It echoes the tune used by the military as justification for all their human rights violations and atrocities; that the civilians they have abducted, tortured and killed, including children, are either communists or communist sympathizers,” Maza said.

Maza pointed out that this reminded her of the Hacienda Luisita Massacre.

“This was the very same line applied by Senator Aquino during the Hacienda Luisita Massacre to justify the brutal dispersal of plantation workers who were only asking for better working conditions, resulting in the murder of fourteen people and injury of hundreds of others,” Maza said.

Maza said that Aquino actively defended his family’s interest in the 6,400-hectare plantation estate in Tarlac, and supported the management of Hacienda Luisita and Central Azucarera de Tarlac’s position that the use of more than a thousand armed soldiers was “a necessary and a legitimate exercise of state power” that worked against an “illegal, communist-inspired activity”.

The protesters were pushing for fairer wages (at that time pegged at P9.50/week), increased benefits and implementation of the land reform program.

NUJP Statement on the Dropping of Charges vs Zaldy and Akmad Ampatuan

NUJP Statement on the Dropping of Charges vs Zaldy and Akmad Ampatuan

Forget justice. Forget law. Forget democracy.

Acting justice secretary Alberto Agra’s order to drop multiple murder charges against Zaldy and Akmad Ampatuan is proof that these principles do not, nay, have never existed under the Arroyo government, that this is governance not through the rule of law but through political expediency.

It is proof of what we have suspected almost as soon as it became apparent that a clan known to be one of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s closest allies might be linked to the worst election-related violence in our country’s recent history AND the worst single attack on the media ever – that this administration would do everything within its power to assure they would not be held accountable.

It is not for us to proclaim the innocence or guilt of either Ampatuan for the November 23 massacre of 58 persons, 32 of them media workers.

But neither is it for Agra to do so.

Not after the charges have been formally filed in court. Not after the judge has issued a commitment order against them, for which the two, along with other members of their clan and several of the 197 accused have been transferred to the Camp Bagong Diwa detention center.

It should now be for the court to judge the innocence or guilt of the 197 persons accused of planning or carrying out the massacre.

By issuing the order, which incidentally Agra had already announced earlier he was inclined to do, the man supposedly sworn to uphold justice in this country has preempted that prerogative of the court. Agra has hijacked the judicial process and subverted the very justice he should be upholding.

It does not take legal expertise to know the alibi is the flimsiest defense in a criminal case. And yet Agra has practically pounced on this straw and used it to buttress his assertion that neither Zaldy nor Akmad Ampatuan should be charged because they were not there when the massacre took place.

But surely, this travesty is not Agra’s doing alone, for he could not have done this without the full knowledge and approval of his principal, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

We hold Agra and Arroyo, personally, and this administration accountable for this massacre of the principles that define us as a country and as a people – justice, the rule of law, our basic rights, democracy.

We call on the Filipino people to protest this outrage. More important, we call on the people to demand an accounting. We cannot let this pass. Or we might as well totally forget that we are one country, one people.

My note: I WANT TO HEAR ALL CANDIDATES CONDEMN THIS OUTRAGE. This is one instance when silence really means collusion in evil.

1st PBC-NPA ambush demoralizes Palparan Battalion anew;
five fascist enemies killed, two HPRs seized-NDF

NPA-Southern Mindanao
April 16, 2010

The 1st Pulang Bagani Company-NPA in Southern Mindanao ambushed a platoon of the fascist 69th Infantry "Palparan" Battalion-AFP killing at least five soldiers and confiscating two high-powered rifles last Sunday, April 11 at past 7 am in Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Lumiad, Paquibato District, Davao City.

The firefight that lasted for two and a half hours resulted to the death of five fascist enemies and several other 69th IB-AFP soldiers wounded. There are no casualties on the NPA side. The Red fighters seized two high-powered rifles -- one M16 rifle and one M203 grenade launcher -- and a K-9 bomb sniffing dog which was later freed by the NPA.

Two Philippine Air Force rescue bomber helicopters which served as reinforcement withdrew from the ambush site after being hit from the NPA's volume fire. The AFP reinforcement helicopters left their dead and wounded behind.

Since its deployment in August 2009, the Palparan Battalion suffered from a series of NPA tactical offensives -- with this latest ambush being their eight defensive action.

As the military suffered another political and military defeat, they have become more and more demoralized. Their Oplan Bantay Laya remains a failure as they try to beat the June 2010 deadline.

In order to save face, they twist, if not completely hide, facts from the public. The April 11 incident pushed the military unit of the 10th Infantry Division-Eastern Mindanao Command-AFP to:

1. Deny that it was an ambush initiated by the NPA when in fact the Palparan Battalion was overtaken by inutile intelligence information;

2. Deny that the helicopter bombers were hit by the Red fighters even as there is no other reason to withdraw from the ambush site and leave their casualties behind;

3. Deny, as usual, the number of their casualties and the confiscated HPRs; and

4. Deny that their troops were badly demoralized. Instead they boasted of conducting hot pursuit operations against the Red fighters. But because soldiers from the Palparan Battalion are already afraid of conducting military operations in the area, they are now using a lumad minor, whom they deliberately armed, as pawn in their counter-revolutionary operations.

The NPA, as always, will defend the masses and guerilla territories from the abusive AFP/PNP troops. Surely, the Palparan Battalion and other AFP/PNP units will count more defeats from the revolutionary movement as they continue to enter guerilla areas and conduct fascist and counterrevolutionary actions.

Unleashing opportunism within and outside the rotten system

Unleashing opportunism within and outside the rotten system
by Lualhati Madlangawa-Guerrero

Last Wednesday, April 14, a news report nearly reshaped the political scene of the Philippines as the election comes.

True, as members of the administration party, Lakas-Kampi "Christian-Muslim Democrats" started to defect to any kind of party whether in the side of Nacionalista, Liberal, or even the PMP of Estrada. These opportunists, as what people mainly think of them, may consider it first a desperate but opportunistic act-especially as the feud between "Presidentiables" Villar and Aquino, and even Estrada rise through, leaving Teodoro of their once beloved party desperate to gain support.

In addition to that,
I also notice that most of these people were quite doing some measures to protect their fief, property simply by defecting to parties that has bigger support and protection. Shedding off their heritage as "Christian" or "Muslim" democrats in favor of opportunism through the cloak of "Nacionalista", "Liberal", or even "Populist" like those of Estrada et al. They may say that one basic cause of defection is lack of funds, but then the real cause is as what I have said from above-a personal intention.

True as what being said, as party politics, becoming an absolute interest by these traditional politicians without any concrete set of goals or whatsoever carries no ideology of its own except bannering it. How come a "Christian-Muslim Democrat" like Lakas-Kampi joined amongst the ranks of Liberals, Nationalists, and Populists? Isn't it desperate as we see them unveiling their political colour?

In addition to that,
If they are ought to be Christian, Muslim and at the same time Democrat, why they don't do like those of the center-right politicians like Conrad Adenauer or even Von Papen? Somehow they remained cling to their ideology no matter what problem the party hath encountered. Or even Ronald Regan and George Bush whose Republican party, also includes the Christian right, encountered problems that need not to defect.

Anyway,
They simply left the party with wingnuts, military minded personalities and die hard warlords in Teodoro's Lakas-Kampi "Christian-Muslim Democrats". And wingnut personalities like Jovito Palparan and Pastor Jun Alcover, with his "Pro Dem for Gibo Movement" are trying to uphold their connections, allegiance with him. As for Palparan, despite his "independent" stance, his supporters are pro-Teodoro and he even wanted himself to be a part of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD slate!

And one wingnut supporter said:
"Gibo is my president
Palparan is my senator
and
ANAD (a right wing sectoral party) is my party list"

True as what he have said, however he didn't notice that Teodoro is also a "Trapo", a traditional politician who also joined into the ranks of Lakas-Kampi-CMD from his uncle's NPC. And in addition to that, how come these wingnuts didn't help Teodoro in upholding "unity" within the party structure as most members of the party defected out of personal intent? Then they'll call them as "Trapo" not noticing that their Teodoro and their allies are "Trapos?"

Well...
They may have defended Teodoro et al. despite their favorite as a defector from the NPC and a "Trapo." while assailing those who defect from his party into the ranks of Villar, Aquino, Estrada et al. Opportunism indeed hath unleashed through within and outside as time goes by-until May 10: the day wherein the ballot box, M16 and mud started to use althogether. Stupid are those who defect, for they have no ideas or enough causes except selfish interests, politics, except for those who wanted to emphasisise much in administering than politicking, is dirty-that only an absolute dismantlement of the old, rotten system what the "Trapos", opportunists, et al. belong to as the solution.
