After the speech lies bad taste...

After the speech lies bad taste...

At first, we expected "hope" and "change" in this society as our "Dear Leader" President Noynoy Aquino made a short speech in his "State of the Nation Address" yesterday in Malacanang.

But,
Despite the approval of the congressmen, supporters and foreign dignitaries who watched the entire scene, we noticed that most of his programs are the same concepts like the past regime, this time watered and even unveiling its overtly "Liberal" colour.

"Development", "Profit", "Modernization", and all of the terms alongside criticisms of the past regime are the by-words of the yesterday's address. And somehow it mirrors the ideas of a "Liberal" and an ally of the business sector. I even notice that the President didn't speak further regarding the past regime and the anomalies behind, except for the money being emphasized much in Pampanga as well as the alleged "Bonuses" in the waterworks-sewerage MWSS. How come alleged rampant corruption and the like haven't been unveiled until Noynoy spoke these in his SoNA?

And in addition to that,
Are there no plans to speak off except anti-corruption schemes, contracts with the private sector, of using the naval ports for foreign navies, of a bigger budget, anything free trade and "Liberal" as I may expect, including "Post Harvest facilities", "Farm to Market roads" and anything to the fact that they want to sugar-coat bitter pills for the people!

And if that's the case, will it solve the crisis fully? Noynoy didn't even speak an agenda for the workers except creating jobs while not speaking of a national industrial scheme nor the farmers for a genuine agrarian reform and the students for a greater subsidy as well as a just peace talk for the rebels except a mere ceasefire. Anything, again would end up a mere band aid, an anesthesia for the social illness!

Well...
To the rest who criticize Pnoy, comparing it to the food, the speech taste's "Matabang" to us, or in English-bad taste.

Lucky that the effigy of his didn't burn by the people.

What the youth wants to hear on P-Noy's 1st SONA: Stop the killings, re-channel counter-insurgency funds to education

What the youth wants to hear on P-Noy's 1st SONA:
Stop the killings, re-channel counter-insurgency funds to education*

"Funds for counter-insurgency would be put to better use if re-directed to address the education crisis." This was the statement of Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raymond Palatino in anticipation of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino's first State of the Nation Address (SONA) today.

"Aquino can hit two birds with one stone by alloting the promised for the intensification of the government's counter-insurgency campaign to the education sector instead," he said.

Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ricardo David Jr. had earlier declared to end counter-insugency in three years wherein Aquino vowed to provide the military all necessities in order to achieve its goal. He, however, had so far not made any categorical commitment to increase the budget for education.

Palatino said that to increase funds for counter-insurgency was tantamount to tolerating and condoning further extra-judicial killings instead of resolutely putting a stop to them. "It sets a deadly encouragement to the military that the past Arroyo administration's policy of extra-judicial killings and human rights violations against perceived 'enemies of the state' is still a go."

He said that the funds for counter-insurgency could be used to procure additional classrooms and chairs, textbooks, laboratory facilities among others.

"As it is, the budget allotment per capita for education is much, much less than the cost of one bullet (P 11 per student: P 14 per bullet)." He said, unfortunately, students have been "biting the bullet when it comes to the government's prioritization of militarization and counter-insurgency over education".

"Increasing budget allocation for education would also decisively put to stop yearly tuition and other fee increases. The Aquino administration should put the interest and the welfare of the youth over giving license to trigger-happy military elements to kill one activist after the other.”

The youth solon had earlier presented to the new Aquino administration the youth's agenda for education, first among them the allocation of six (6) percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) to education as prescribed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Palatino, in today's SONA proceedings, wore a sablay (graduation sash) printed with the words, "Stop tuition and other fees increases! Stop the killings!".

The sablay, according to him, signified "every youth's right to quality education and the youth's respect for human rights by calling an end extrajudicial killings".

Palatino, together with other representatives of progressive partylists, later joined thousands of youth and students who walked out of their classes to participate in the People's SONA rally.

Militant teachers to P-Noy: Walk your talk, ACT NOW!

Militant teachers to P-Noy: Walk your talk, ACT NOW!

PRESS RELEASE -- July 26, 2010
Ref: France Castro, Secretary General (Mobile No. 09178502124)

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) joins the thousands of people’s and cause oriented groups who will march the streets today, to call on to P-Noy to heed and take concrete actions on the demands of teachers and of the people.

“The teachers have heard enough of what President Benigno Aquino III wants to do during his campaign and inaugural speeches. The people are now demanding that these words are transformed into concrete actions! The peoples’ demands should be addressed, and P-Noy should now ‘walk his talk’,” said ACT Secretary General France Castro.

Castro slammed P-Noy’s previous populist tactics and motherhood statements which does not really address the basic issues of the people, but instead merely diverted the public’s attention from the core problems. “This is not what we expect from him.” Castro deplored. “The teachers and the people have suffered long enough under the previous president. It’s now time for P-Noy to carry out our demands and allow us reprieve from the oppressive policies of the government.”

The militant teachers’ Alliance listed immediate and concrete demands to address the needs of the teachers, education workers, and students, which included raising the teachers’ salaries and filling the shortages required for quality education, and dealing with the teachers’ problems involving the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). The teachers also called on P-Noy to stop the killings of activists and unarmed civilians; to free all political detainees; and to render justice for all victims of human rights violations.

“We expect that P-Noy will give, in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), marching orders that will concretely address the demands of the people, if he is to show his sincerity in bringing about change in the government.” Castro added.

To the President, Castro said: “Enough of the promises, P-Noy. It’s time to ACT NOW!”

Is Gloria escaping the heck of the people?

Is Gloria escaping the heck of the people?

Back then, we witnessed the world on how Nikita Khrushchev accused Joseph Stalin of anomalies in then Soviet Union, that resulted in the "Secret Speech" being broadcasted all over the world. This kind of act Nika did signalled the change of course of the Socialist world resulting to a major debate that lasts for long in the history of Socialism.

And somehow here in the Philippines, that kind of idea would be repeated, but this time not about Socialism but rather we witness Noynoy Aquino's "State of the Nation Address" and like Nika, would vent criticism against the last administration-that left a concoction of mess and development in the society. Both the rise of GNP rates and of corruption charges, etc.

But then,
As we watched the news, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President and now Congresswoman, escaped the heck by going to Hongkong along with her husband out of personal causes, and somehow, according to Renato Reyes, in his Facebook account, said:
"..is disappointed that GMA will skip the SONA. The look on her face would have been priceless. Mikey though should permanently NOT go to Congress as his presence there insults the Filipino people..."

But then,
Gloria's spokesperson, Lacierda said that the former President's decision to skip the SONA was "her own." according to the Inquirer. And it even said:
"She is entitled to that and we have no say. We have no preference, one way or another, whether she attends or not."

How come Gloria prefer not to hear it? To others it may call it an act of cowardice as we mostly witness Gloria a "strong President" and now as a Congresswoman she ought not to hear it and leaving the heck rather to the Arroyo bloc? People wanted much to see her, courtesy of the media being criticized in the Congress out of her actions especially in regards to the economy and human rights violations happened during her 10 year term.

And somehow it intensifies criticism, as Jinggoy Estrada said:
"She doesn’t want to be humiliated, Who would like to be there if you’re the object of the speech of the President?"

Starting from the criticism against the former President lies the "DeGloriaization" of the society, and for sure the Liberals wanted this kind of idea to be enacted, a overhaul.

In regards to the "State of the Nation Address" of Noynoy Aquino

In regards to the "State of the Nation Address" of Noynoy Aquino

Today, We all witness a historical bragging event known by the media as the "State of the Nation Address." And somehow it provides a mere showcase of promises and heckling statements as it opens the new session of the congress here in the Philippines. And due to the expectations of many, it would possibly end up the promises and the like rot while in the vicinity of the house of the people lies prominent personalities and the like.

This hell-of-a-kind address, again is another means to brag the rest of the people, whether Pilipino or foreign about the programs ought to fulfill in the first 100 days of the of the Administration, and due to the expectations of the many in this hell-of-a-kind "yellow fever" fueled by media made after the 2010 elections and of the inauguration, spoke of "fulfillment" although some may likely doom to fail out of anomalies being kept "secret" to avoid criticism.

But then,
Despite the frivolity, the promises to be spoken, and of the personalities being paraded in this kind of event, we must remember that Noynoy Aquino, the President of the "Republic of the Philippines" is not the late couple Ninoy and Cory as well as his grandfather Benigno sr. And how should we deal with it? Especially in regards to the media of putting much Noynoy into the "Aquino cult of personality?" This somehow is a big question to us Pilipinos regarding these people are, even his younger sister Kris, who tries to get into the scene.

In addition to that,
As we listen to his words, why not also listen to the SONA of the streets? Aside from the concerts and the like somehow it mirrors the realities happened in this rotten society, as well as telling to the people that the nation still in the verge of crisis no matter what kind of solution would be taken. Gloria may had done such things and yet the crisis still the same, and so is Noynoy who must ought to end it as the representative of the Pilipino people in general-especially on basic issues such as education, land reform, public development and others that may contribute to the nation as a whole.

On the other hand, I even notice that how come the wingnuts couldn't join the SONA? Especially Alcover, Palparan et al? Aside from being disqualified, being defeated along with the others? Are they again venting rage to the Left and making hysterical statements same as before or even do a Rios Montt and start calling for war against the unarmed left? Bah! I will call this a mockery of national unity as they want to call the people to revive their favorite tradition.

And as I assess the entire event in general, we must urge the people to "seek truth from facts" as time and again there will be truths being unearthed coming from facts that we couldn't deal through. You may have voted for Aquino but we forgot the events they are implicated like the Mendiola and the Hacienda Luisita massacre, the Low Intensity Conflict and of the rise of the death squads and vigilantes around the nation since the 80s. And again, Noynoy is not Cory nor Ninoy and even the late Benigno sr. or any other Aquinos of the old era. We must continuously grasp the truth and start seeking more and more truths from facts in this hell-of-a-kind society, not just through listening to SONA, but also in looking at evidences within the society in itself.

Statement in support of DPRK NDC statement

ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF SONGUN POLITCS UK

Statement in support of DPRK NDC statement

London 24th of July 2010 Juche 99

Today the Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK and Juche Idea Study Group of England issued a joint statement in support of the statement of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

It is entirely just and correct that the DPRK should take measures to defend itself against the ever increasing and mad cap provocations of the US imperialists and South Korean puppets which coincide with the piling of yet more sanctions on the DPRK in order to stifle its socialist system.

The US imperialists and south Korean puppets are running wild with different war exercises against the DPRK such as the navy drills due to start tomorrow and the Ulji Freedom Guardian" joint exercises and joint anti-submarine exercises in the West Sea of Korea from August 16 to 26.These are a wanton challenge to peace and a gross violation of the sovereignity of the DPRK.

They are a perfidious attempt to intimidate the DPRK and also to stifle the Korean style socialism that guarantees a independent and creative life to the people. It is the right of independent nations to self defence including all means at their disposal. We support the just stand of the DPRK NDC ,representing the will of the Korean people and safeguarding and protecting the interests of the DPRK and entire Korean nation ,to wage a sacred retaliatory war.

Yankees get out of Korea now you don't belong there
Stop the war exercises now
Victory to the DPRK,
the independent Juche socialist power !
Down with US Imperialism.

NDC States to Counter US-S. Korea War Exercises with Nuclear Deterrence-KCNA

NDC States to Counter US-S. Korea War Exercises with Nuclear Deterrence

Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces finally went into reckless actions against the DPRK after having frantically pushed ahead with the moves to stifle the DPRK under the pretext of the "Cheonan" case.

A spokesman for the DPRK National Defence Commission issued a statement on Saturday clarifying the principled stand of the army and people of the DPRK in this regard.

It said: The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces are planning to stage joint naval exercises in the East Sea of Korea from July 25 to 28, the "Ulji Freedom Guardian" joint exercises and joint anti-submarine exercises in the West Sea of Korea from August 16 to 26 and different ceaseless joint naval exercises from late in August to early in September and other drills. All these war maneuvers are nothing but outright provocations aimed to stifle the DPRK by force of arms to all intents and purposes.

If the publication of the results of investigation into the "Cheonan" case which was faked up by the U.S. imperialists at instigation of their puppet forces was the first reckless military provocation to the DPRK, the joint naval maneuvers they are to stage even with nuclear strike means involved under the pretext of the above-said case amount to an unpardonable second military provocation to the DPRK, the statement noted, and continued:

The chief architect of the warship case seems to send a "message as deterrence" to somebody while staging offensive exercises under the pretext of the forged case after falsifying its truth. This is as reckless an act as waking up a sleeping tiger.

The DPRK National Defence Commission re-clarifies the following principled stand as regards this abnormal situation where the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces are threatening this land with a nuclear war under the pretext of the "Cheonan" case:

The army and people of the DPRK will legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces.

The more desperately the U.S. imperialists brandish their nukes and the more zealously their lackeys follow them, the more rapidly the DPRK's nuclear deterrence will be bolstered up along the orbit of self-defence and the more remote the prospect for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula will be become.

The army and people of the DPRK will start a retaliatory sacred war of their own style based on nuclear deterrent any time necessary in order to counter the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces deliberately pushing the situation to the brink of a war.

Now that the U.S. imperialists are persisting in their direct military provocations in gross violation of the spirit of the September 19 joint statement in which they promised not to attack or invade the DPRK with either nuclear or conventional weapons, it is a natural option of the army and people of the DPRK to take corresponding all-out retaliatory measures.

The army and people of the DPRK will take all steps to the last to thoroughly probe the truth behind the case under the situation where the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces persistently and deliberately link the DPRK with the "Cheonan" case.

It is a legitimate and sovereign right to protect the honor and dignity of the DPRK for them to probe the truth about the despicable "fabrication" and "charade."

The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces will keenly realize what high price they will have to pay for their reckless military provocation rendering the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the worst phase under the pretext of the "Cheonan" case.
